Following potential 2012 draftees

I think the jury is still out on Wroten. I think he's something like this year's Iman Shumpert. His game needs to develop in a number of ways, but he's got the physical talent to do it. The question is whether he's got the mind to do it.

He was once projected to go #1 in the draft (as a HS sophomore). He's regressed, not gotten better.

Okay, I'll play. If he can go from the Pac12 averaging more turnovers than assists to the NBA averaging more assist .. well, that would be a plus. If he can get his 3pt shooting up to, say, 20% (from 16, lol). If he can get his FT shooting up to 60% (from 58%, lol).

If he can do all these things, he would still stink. He has a LOOOOONG way to go to be considered a decent NBA PG.

Since Josh Howard was brought up, did anyone else catch the report today that he has expressed interest in playing for Golden State?

PKM, I really respect your opinion. I have heard what you have said about Barnes. I have taken as much time as I can to watch him and get a better understanding of what his game is all about. After doing that I have come to the conclusion that he will have a long NBA career. There will always be a situation that he is wanted on some team. Heck, that could be the Jazz at some point in the future. My concern is with his overall game. He rebounding is suspect. He defense is questionable. He ability to create is severely lacking for a player as highly touted as he is. He ability to create for others seems to be non existent.

Those are just my own impressions of Barnes. He could very well prove me wrong.

First off, I am not a Barnes lover .. I just see him as better than a 'one-dimensional' player in the mold of Korver.
Rebounding. We have to remember he play on the perimeter, not in the post .. and 5+ rebounds per game for a wing is anything but alarming.
His defense is underrated (not great, but definitely underrated).

Trade him to them for the 30 or 35.

EDIT: There could actually be something to that little joke.

The real question is, would you draft him for your fantasy team?

Here's a somewhat hilarious piece of trivia.

Barnes is one-dimensional shooter.
Marshall is a pure PG that can't shoot.
(Those are fairly generally feelings, right?)

Okay, here's their 3pt shooting %'s for last year;

Barnes 35.8%
Marshall 35.4%

Wow .. major blunder on my part. Asst coach Antigua just told me that Darius unofficially measured 6'6 while in Indy. If true, that'll teach me to be so confident with a tape measure.

If that's true (we'll find out soon), I'd say just wait and see if he's available at 47. A major draw to me was having prototypical SF size. Another SF/SG combo player might be OK at 47, but probably not worth moving up for.

I heard a couple hours ago the Spurs are still trying to do something to pick up Darius. He's probably a good fit for them. System player, lights out shooter, high bbIQ, no mistakes.. They don't need a superman.

I still like Lillard and Marshall, both of whom could develop into great players. I'm not that impressed by the mid-late lotto, which has a bunch of meh big men.
Davis is a lock to be very, very good, and I think Beal will be a solid and safe pick for anyone, but there is a lot of bust potential with some of the more highly touted players.
I really don't know jack about Royce White and 2nd round players.

Darius Miller does look like a real sleeper, and to be honest, I'd even take him over Barnes, who is just too one-dimensional to me.
:confused::eek::confused: Aye aye aye

If they're looking at him as SG, that makes more sense. Maybe looking to replace Danny Green, given the likelihood that he'll get a good payday as a FA this year. By the way, does anyone know what ever happened to the Spurs 1st round pick (2011? 2010?), James Anderson. I know he had injury problems early. Is this still the case, or did he just not pan out?

Darius can play SG, I'm certain, so that could be it.

I'm interested in what happened with Anderson as well .. thought he would be pretty good.

D miller 6-6 he just dropped some in my eyes. My question would be arm length, if he has long arms I can forgive the 6-6. Iguadala is 6-6 and he plays the 3.

I still want the jazz to take jefftaylor the most.

He was in SA's rotation at the start of the season but couldn't throw the ball in the ocean - a huge problem considering his perimeter shooting should be his biggest value to the Spurs as defensively he's a poor defender. I haven't followed it closely, but with his struggles with his shot and shaky defense, I think Pop just eventually trusted Green and Leonard more and they squeezed Anderson out of the rotation.

I think I value Taylor higher too, as well. But at (reportedly) 6-7 and with better quickness than toughness, and the ability to guard down (SG) not up (PF), that would still leave somewhat more of an overlap than a complement to Hayward, I'd think.
