Derrick Favors Featured on Week 2 of the Jr Jazz Tour

https://www.nba.com/jazz/news/20120723-favors-junior-jazz-clinics.html

It's a good year for the kids on week 2. It was mostly hit or miss on these when I was in Jr. Jazz. The very best player at one that I went to was Jeff Hornacek. The next best was Jeff Malone. It was all downhill from there, and I was in Jr. Jazz for at least 5 or 6 years.

How old are you? The specific one I remember going to was when Jeff Hornacek was there. I remember him calling on me to shoot a shot and it was such a perfect shot the net didn't move. Needless to say, Jeffy was impressed. I remember Bryon Russell being at one but other than those two I'm drawing blanks.

I'm 28, so this must have been 15-16 years ago or so. I don't rembmer a lot about it, but I remember him saying that if a shot had a good rotation on it it the ball would roll back to you if you swished it. He even had an example where he made a shot but said it wasn't a good shot because the ball didn't come back to him.

To be 8 again......

On another note, I couldn't tell you within any respectable radius where any of those places are except maybe 2. I need to go back and re-take my elementary Utah geography courses apparently.

Great news that Derrick is willing to participate. After being on the US Select team, he could have easily said he was taking a break and working out on his own until training camp. The more we have these young guys involved with the team and community and each other, the better chance we have of hanging on to them as their contracts come up.

I completely agree. Maybe Hayward or Burks will do the last leg of the tour.

That sounds on point. Of course he might have used this same method many times. I'm 24 but I can't recall which year it was when Horny showed up. I think it was the same year I went to the Jazz/Celtics game with my team.

One more really ****ed up part of my life as to why I don't talk to my Dad:

Our team was playing the "Championship Game" the day my father decided we were moving to Tennessee. No big deal, right? Yeah, it's just too bad I was 200 miles east when our team was playing that night. I still don't know if they won or not. It was in 1999, I know that much. I can't remember any names, which really sucks, or I would have tried Facebooking some of my former teammates/coaches to find out. What a dickhead move, especially now looking back. It's not like we had to rush down to Tennessee. We were on the road for a solid two weeks before we even made it to Tennessee. Dad thought it would be fun to take a vacation on the way. That **** pisses me off to no end. What would have ONE more night in Utah have hurt? Son of a bitch.

Sorry to trigger bad memories.

Sorry to trigger bad memories.

I think about this all the time actually. Basketball has always been my favorite thing and that was a HUGE letdown. It was ONE last game and it was the championship game for Jr. Jazz. I had hit the game-winning shot a few games before that @ the Copper Hills (?) school. That's probably my greatest basketball memory of all-time. It's too bad Facebook wasn't around back then so I could at least find out the results. I don't know, I'm probably being a big baby about this, but given the circumstances, I think I'm right to be upset.
