What's new

Dear Mexico

Good to know that you think National pride in the Olympics does not count.

We like the olympics... of course I root for Brazil to win every sport in the olympic games, soccer included, but when it comes to soccer, if I have to choose winning the Olympic games or the world cup, I choose the WC.

Brazilian people like soccer so much, because we're good at it... for instance, if we loose the world cup, we get mad, but if we loose the archery competition we don't care as much.

I guess this is where we disagree. No reason you "have to" choose. If you are unable to train and compete for both that underminds your theme of the Brazilians being the best.

Yeah I want to go to a nice stadium and see a high enery game. I bet it is insane.

Rio Tinto when the USMNT played El Salvador was pretty rockin'... most intense sporting event I've ever attended, and yes, I attended Jazz playoff games back in the Stockton to Malone era.

Oh, and for the record, Kyle wouldn't have been close to playing if Bradley and Dempsey were available, but he did really good. Tim Howard is, quite frankly, the best goalie in the business. And anytime you beat Mexico - best players or not, their best players or not - it's an honor and a privilege.

The difference is when you win the olympics, that doesn't make you the best in the world, on the other hand, winning the WC does. So, Spain have the bragging rights right now :-s

I hate to say it, but I agree with this. Olympics is 21 yrs. and below. From a pure sport perspective, World Cup is the supreme. Olympics is pretty cool, but if the World Cup was any other format besides country vs. country, I'd say the Olympics would have it.

Was there really a soccer age limit? I swear I remember reading an article about David Beckham being left off team Great Britian being a mild controversy or something recently. I don't like it for any sport. Olympics to me means best in the world and that's who I want to see compete, regardless if one team that might be overly dominate in certain years or the supposed wear and tear on professional players, or whatever the argument for age limits are.

Each team gets to have a couple dudes over the age limit I think.
