NFL Thread 12-13

Had my draft today...it's a little more yards oriented than most...one point every 5 yards rushing/receiving...one point every 10 passing...td's are 5,7,9,11 for rushing/receiving depending on distance...4,5,6,7 for passing depending on distance...

Newton, Freeman
Chris Johnson, Greene, Gerhart, Tate, Ringer
Nelson, D. Thomas, Blackmon, S. Moss, R. Moss, J. Gordon
Gates
Henery
Niners D, Chargers D

Love the Newton, CJ, Gates threesome...so much potential to explode in any week...have Nelson and Thomas getting balls from Rodgers and Manning...Gerhart is being vastly underrated imo...Greene can't be any worse than last year...best defense possibly...and a lot of shakiness yet huge upside at wr...

I like Freeman, he will be better. We clearly are on the same page on Demaryious. For my draft I wanted either combo of Manning/Thomas or Cutler/Marshall and after seeing clips of the ball coming off Peyton's hand I went with the former.

That's not Josh Gordon, of the Browns, is it? Can't be. There must be another one.

I wouldn't have touched either Moss. Cheers.

Yeah, it was Moss and Gordon on the Browns in the 15th and 16th rounds respectively I think. We draft 18 rounds. And those were the best available imo at that point. No sense in getting some guy who could get me 45 yards a week. Go for the home runs for the 4th-6th wr's. And yeah, I preferred Decker but he had already been taken.

Gerhart is a solid pick. Even if AP plays they will limit him. Only problem with either of them is that the Vikings are so bad they'll be throwing 90% of the time in the second half of games. I avoided both of them and went for guys like Michael Bush, Tate (which you have), and David Wilson in later rounds. I think Wilson has a shot at ROY.

Here's my team from another draft last night. Probably my best team out of the 10 or so teams I have.

Rodgers, Luck
Charles, McGahee, M Bush, Hillis, K Smith
Julio Jones, Decker, Bryant, Moore, James Jones
Pettigrew, Olsen
Gould
Steelers D

I agree a little but despite how bad they were last year (and they were bad) and despite starting just five games, Gerhart still had 721 total yards and four touchdowns, at a 4.9 yards per carry clip too which was better than AD. Having not played a snap or really done anything hard in practice, I could see the Vikes being much like the Colts were with Manning last year...Maybe next week, maybe next week, maybe next week and then finally just shutting him down so they can remain in the Barkley sweepstakes. They can't rush him back, that's for sure and it makes no sense to really play him at all imo given when the injury happened, his running style and how ****ty they're going to be anyway. They simply can't tell the fans that.

And yeah, I loved Wilson but my teammate didn't as much as I did and since I already dictate almost all the picks basically, I had to be nice.

I'm meh on Bennett. Where did Jared Cook go in your draft? Dude could end up with 900 yards and 7 td's.

Can't remember but it was early. Girl who has him has Aaron Hernandez too. Gonna send her two separate trades for each guy and hopefully get one of them.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the Vikes will be like the Colts of lasts year. There are still some weapons. TE Rudolph has great hands and could have a good season as young QBs look to their TEs often. Grehart as you said, can be great, and so can Harvin. The O-line and secondaries are improved, and the D-line still has Williams and Allen (who doesn't need a "beast mode" because that's how he always is). I'm not saying we contend, but 7-9 isn't out of the question. The schedule looks a little kinder this year.

I meant they'd be like them in how they handle dealing with their franchise player coming back from injury moreso, though I did throw the Barkley sweepstakes comment in there and think they'll be one of the worst five or six teams in the league. Ponder's just that bad imo. And I say that as a FSU fan.

If Tannenhill proves capable I think The Dolphins could win 9 or 10 games. Their defense is already above average and they have plenty of veteran pieces on offense. I don't expect Bush to repeat his second half from last year but that may be a blessing in disguise being Daniel Thomas may be the better overall back

Hell yeah.
The Dolphins are my boys.

Rogers @ 5 is insane.

Hillis I get where you're going but he isn't who you probably think he is. That dude is not a short yardage TD scorer. He excels on swing passes and being in space in general. Don't be fooled into thinking he's Mike Alstott because he is not. Not saying Hillis is garbage just that he isn't good at what a lot of "experts" are pigeonholing him into. He's a big dude with soft hands who is awesome at blowing up DBs. No wiggle in short space, can be tackled by swiping his ankle, and is/was crazy. Hillis' insanity was probably deserved since us Browns fans cheated our asses off to get him on the Madden cover but that story is still a head scratcher.

IMO like me you are likely to be scouring the wire often. I drafted Pitts D also with my last pick but have little faith in them for various reasons mainly age and depth.

Holy ****. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/seahawks-release-te-kellen-winslow-surprise-move-125426149--nfl.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ObrNewswire+%28OBR+Newswire%29

Shehawks cut Winslow. I remember when that guy was going to be HOF. He really could have been that good. What makes this even more sad is that they signed Evan Moore to replace him, who we just cut. Holey moley.
