Favors and P3

What I've seen this preseason from Favors is his improved ability to put the ball on the floor and even feature a nasty crossover (last game). If he can get his man to guard him at 10-15' out he can blow buy them everytime. I think this is the rout Favors should take rather than developing a traditional power post game, where he has shown poor instincts, bad footwork, and far from a soft touch.

The problem with that is that he has to develop a feel for the midrange game. At this point, he hasn't and until he does that strategy will not really work.

Yep, but it's going to get tougher to effectively attack facing up if he can't hit a jumper from the short corner or free throw line. Dude needs to be attacking the rim though, as that's where he has an advantage; having a point guard who can utilize Favors on cuts and in pick and rolls would help A LOT.

This. But I just don't see the touch. He looks like a get to the rim, within 3 feet guy, to me.

Hard to do when you can't punish opponents for backing off too far. If he doesn't find a J, with his poor foot work and touch working with his back to the basket, he'll essentially be limited to scoring in transition, off cuts and in picks and rolls (all dependent on others creating).

I agree, GVC, I'm just saying I don't hold much hope for a great offensive touch, regardless.

Maybe our love affair with San Antonio could result in Tim Duncan working with him, maybe giving him that great bank shot he has. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcZLLZU0OzI

About the 28 second mark is the one I'm talking about.
