Following potential 2013 draftees

Burke is no where near as quick as Paul, but that being said Paul was only the 51st ranked player coming out of HS ( By ESPN at least ) shows that maybe we are wrong and Burke will be a really great player. I dont see it, but I think he can be a functional backup someday.

i mean come on compare burke to some one that has the same physical characteristics

Duller Steph Curry. without the touch around the rim. and heres how id compare Curry's and Burkes shooting.

ESPN blows, thanks for the example.

he was top 5 or top 6 on rivals, iirc

and most importantly i prefer our PG, Alec Burks over Burke, any day.

My Outlook on Alec is in 2 years@ 23 to be near linsanity levels of last year. My 4year outlook is Penny Hardaway.

Alec Burks doesn't have the skills and all-around talent that Penny had. Not even close. I wish he did.

CP turned out to be a special player. I'm comparing Burke's athleticism to Paul's, not their overall games.

Not true. didnt turn out to be a special player. he always was one, check his college/hs resume.

the CP3 vs Deron battle is almost moot. especially with Deron shooting 41% for the nets, hes worse than his utah days, id contend paul was better back then too, that point is disagreeable. judging by their whole body of work, CP3 all-day

CP3 also possesses every trick in the bag, multiple blow-by crossovers, viscous hesitation game. Trey burke vs CP3 directly is a 97-99grade vs 85-88grade, and thats presuming all of trey burkes game translates, which i question

Andre Miller... first off hes measurably much closer to deron then then CP3 and burke.

in his 3rd season these are his stats

81Starts 37.3MPG .454FG 0.3-1.1 3FG's 4.5-5.5Ft's .817fts 1.3orb 4.7rebs 10.9apg 1.6stl 16.5ppg

ive emboldened the stats i dont think burke will be able to reach in any season, please convince me otherwise on any of them

Coming out of UCLA, Collison was expected to be an excellent back-up PG, not inherently a starter. Collison played 4 years at UCLA though, whereas Burke is a sophomore.

Burke's assist numbers are a notch higher than Collison's were in college.

Edit: Okay, now I'm convincing myself that Trey Burke isn't ideal.

Looking at the standings, honestly the farthest the Jazz would fall is the #12 pick. Notable players in that area: Trey Burke, Alex Poythress, Michael Carter-Williams and C.J. McCollum. I know that Michael Carter-Williams isn't the popular choice with you guys, but if the Jazz could pick him in the 12-14 range I would be estatic.

Carter-Williams is 6'6 and leading the nation is APG with around 8 assists per game, has a very good assist to turnover ratio almost 3/1, widely considered the best point guard in the draft with Burke a close second. I know he has some off the court isssues but he can ball, I know he hasn't been playing good lately but that is good for the Jazz so that he stays in the late-lottery range.

I have MCW easily in my top 10, ive said he wont get past the kings/pistons.

if we can nab MCW in the 12-14 range thats a bargain. i like it, plus he flashes inside of 2minutes, very good sign.

Gut tells me we have no chance at him, will have to pay a premium. i do not forsee any scenario where the jazz pick is 12-14 though, i think were gonna be close to 20

let him and burks both run 1/2... give the ball to burks on the break, MCW halfcourt...

The Thunder might take Carter-Williams with their lottery pick though, leaving the Jazz to take Burke if they fall into the lottery. Right now Burke and MCW are even to me either one of them has to show me a little something extra like leading their teams to wins which both can not seem to do lately. A good comparison for Burke to me is Kemba Walker/Ty Lawson.

With the scoring drought that the young guys seem to have night after night I have to wonder if the Jazz will draft a score first PG type.

If the Jazz want a pass-first point guard the answer is MCW and if the Jazz want a scoring point guard the answer is Burke.

I'm going to make a bold prediction here. If the Jazz have the choice between picking Trey Burke and CJ McCollum, I predict they would choose McCollum. The reasoning is that McCollum is bigger, finishes better around the rim, has enough size and feel to play PG at the next level (like DWill did at Illinois), and also because McCollum is older and more developed (a senior). McCollum is older than Burks, Favors and Kanter, and there should be less of a learning/development curve. He should be able to fit right in. Plus he's a really good shooter all over the floor.
