Following potential 2013 draftees

I'm going to make a bold prediction here. If the Jazz have the choice between picking Trey Burke and CJ McCollum, I predict they would choose McCollum. The reasoning is that McCollum is bigger, finishes better around the rim, has enough size and feel to play PG at the next level (like DWill did at Illinois), and also because McCollum is older and more developed (a senior). McCollum is older than Burks, Favors and Kanter, and there should be less of a learning/development curve. He should be able to fit right in. Plus he's a really good shooter all over the floor.

I don't think poorly of Trey Burke but I'm extremely high on CJ McCollum. I'd much prefer him to Burke at PG for our team, primarily for the reasons you outlined above. I think he can really play, really score and really shoot.

The score-first PG could also be McCollum.

I agree.

I still think Marcus Smart is the best PG for the Jazz in this draft, but I'm putting McCollum ahead of Burke. Offensively, McCollum was already playing at an NBA level. I also think he'd be in the Top 10 if he didn't get injured. I think that makes his stock a 'buy' at the end of the lottery.

I will also make a bold prediction, Otto Porter will be the #1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

while were into making bold predictions, i think the jazz go against the grain and trade their 2014 pick into this years draft, to pick MCW, Isaiah Austin or Poythress, and package up again to score another. ideally Poy and Austin.

under this scenario id fully endorse unleashing Kanter and Favors full force, it also allows us to try and grab Millsap instead of Al, either way we dont need either and can S+T them both, under this scenario.. while were speaking in fantasy lets say we signed Chris Paul.

CP3- Burks - Hayward - Favors - Kanter

Burks - Foye - Poythress - Austin/Austin

Tinsley - Murphy - DMC - Marvin - FA 4/5

we can play a small lineup with either Austin Kanter or Favors at 5 and poythress(marvin, DMC) at 4.

I made a draft marcus smart thread a while ago but it didnt have your support. It didn't have anyone's support.

How about this prediction.

Jazz trade both picks for future picks because they don't want to deal with anymore rookies right now and want to give this group more time.

That would suck balls.

I really like the 3man cog of Favors-Kanter-Austin, all-time great potential rotation, imho.

by 2017

Kanter-Austin would be almost impossible to try and defense/rebound against(especially if we have 6'5" attacking pg's), favors is legit he doesnt need volume shots, just get him in positions to succeed and he will finish it.

kanter and austin would rebound and spread the defense to 18 ft and beyond, with adept shooting touch. what a nightmare

Okay, yes, that's BOLD. I still like Poythress. I think he's a good pro prospect. I'd love to see him playing off of Hayward, whom I think could really open up his game. Poythress would be a great pick near the end of the lottery. If the Jazz pick at #14 and #18 this year though, they may be able to trade those to move up to #11 or so to take Poythress without giving up a 2014 pick, which could be lottery.

I've been on Smart's wagon for a while. Did you give your thread some hokey title like Marc is Smart? That might have been your problem.

i remember. i was lurking, not to call out pkm because you guys have really gotta understand this is not any sort of exact science. but i think he was in the high teens on mock drafts at that time, correct. i remember pkm said he wasent sold on a real position, and not sure about PG athleticism, now that being said, that was well before... this game

Not true. didnt turn out to be a special player. he always was one, check his college/hs resume.

the CP3 vs Deron battle is almost moot. especially with Deron shooting 41% for the nets, hes worse than his utah days, id contend paul was better back then too, that point is disagreeable. judging by their whole body of work, CP3 all-day

CP3 also possesses every trick in the bag, multiple blow-by crossovers, viscous hesitation game. Trey burke vs CP3 directly is a 97-99grade vs 85-88grade, and thats presuming all of trey burkes game translates, which i question

agree with this.

But I do wonder if Burke can develop these skills though? He's a really smart player and someone who always seeks to improve. He also seems to be a guy who plays with a chip on his shoulder getting snubbed by Ohio State.

I'm afraid this could be the case as well. KOC LOVESSSSSSSSS guys who are big for his position.

I wonder if that's the reason we missed out on CP3 actually...

Did we mention CP3 has one of the best mid range games in basketball at around 47% year after year? You simply have to guard him everywhere and cannot cheat and go under on screens. Having said that, Burke is pretty good in that department as well. From DX on 2-22:

Trey Burke is the best off the dribble shooter in college basketball according to Synergy. He makes 41.5% of his attempts.
