The Gordon Hayward mistake has screwed the Jazz for years to come

But Hayward does put up numbers like George. He is more efficient offensively. The only thing George does better numbers wise is rebound. ( probably a better defender too ). Hayward's per 36 points are better. If he got the Sam minutes as George then he would be considered just as good.

I meant per game, since Hayward would probably play more.

3-8-2013

Tonight was a microcosm of the situation facing the two teams. Playoff-bound Indiana faced Orlando, while Utah faced Chicago.

Paul George (27 minutes)
25 points (8-12 from the field, 4-5 from three)
5 rebounds
3 assists
1 steal

Gordon Hayward (28 minutes)
5 points (2-6 from the field, 0-1 from three)
1 rebound
1 assist
1 steal

I'd rather have George, but do we really need to explain why this is a silly argument?

14 ppg. 3.0 rpg. 2.6 apg. 0.8 spg. 42% fg.

Mediocre numbers. NOT an all-star. A catastrophic mistake.

Would have been nice to see all-star Paul George in a Jazz uniform (have fun watching George in the NBA playoffs), but the Jazz needed a Mormon choir boy for the community (or a player who looks like one).

The Gordon Hayward Jazz are in a tailspin..................................

.................falling...................................... out of the playoffs.

It's not about winning. It's about community!

LMAO. This has got to be one of the funniest/stupidest posts I've read on here, ever. Great stuff Cyclo continue to show us how funny/stupid you can be.

Time to put cyclo out of his misery. A quote from a Brandon Knight thread. Even if you would have picked George over Hayward (I didn't check), you would have drafted us the biggest bust in the lottery in 2011. You are smarter than KOC, no, I really mean it....

Jan Vesely is going to be an all-star in this league.

He's a super athletic 6'11" inside/outside scoring machine and explosive as heck.

His 39 inch vertical leap is incredible for a 6'11" player.

Much better prospect than Danilo Gallinari ever was and he's turned out to be a darn good NBA player.

I thought this thread was about the Jazz signing Hayward to a Max deal. For some fans (not just Jazz fans) race is an issue but if there are still organizations out there that look at race as a factor when selecting players then they would suck year after year. I don't recall too many talking about George being better than Hayward coming out of college, I might be wrong but all the things I read had them both in the range where they were drafted to the mid first round.

Now if Hayward was projected to be picked 28th and the Jazz took him over George then you might have a point but in reality you don't have a point because your accusation is stupid.

I'm late to this discussion, but it rankles me every time someone plays the race card in discussing Jazz personnel decisions. First of all, a little history about Utah professional basketball and race: in the mid-70s, the Utah Stars became the first professional basketball team to have an all-black starting five, including such notables as Zelmo Beatty, Jimmy Jones, Willie Wise and Ron Boone. That belied the notion that Utah was biased toward white players. Second, following the racist illogic displayed in the original post, Dallas must have been a race Mecca for choosing a white German, Detlef Schrempf, ahead of future perennial All-Star Karl Malone. You may not remember that Hayward and George actually had their Utah tryout together -- and word from the tryout was that Gordon dominated. I'm not a huge fan of KOC or Gordon, but I believe the Jazz chose whom they thought at the time would be the better player, regardless of race. Can't we put the alleged Utah "white bias" in the garbage heap of history where it belongs? Of course, the real racists are the ones who see "racialism" everywhere.
