Speaking of beavers...
There are 2 species of beavers in the world; the North American Beaver (Castor canadensis) and the Eurasian Beaver (Castor fiber). An adult beaver is about 3 feet long and generally weighs between 30 and 70 lbs. Adult females are larger than adult males of the same age. Beavers have poor eyesight, but strong senses of smell and hearing. Their teeth continue to grow throughout their lifetime.
Beavers are monogamous (and probably misogynist)
Prior to european immigration, there were over 60 million beavers in North America. Europeans are, apparently, strongly anti-beavite.
we need more beavers. I tried to get some re-introduced to "my" wilderness. . . . along with the Bonneville Trout the Forest Service was re-introducing. . . . Flash Floods scour the streambed to the bare rock every five or six decades, and fish need some nice little pools like the ones the Beavers build.
