Jazz FA rumors

Absolutely. I'd do Barnes for Burks, 2015 pick. I'd take on any contracts with that deal.

Starting 5:

Burke
Hayward
Barnes
Favors
Bogut

or

Burke
Thompson
Hayward
Favors
Bogut

Kanter being 6th man in both scenarios. Which one do you all prefer?

If I am Utah, another selling point I tell GS is this:

We aren't as good or as desired as LA. You make this trade with LA, you give them one of their new "big three." They will be competing with you for a title in the next 2-5 years. Do you really want to help out a team with that much power, only to have Klay Thompson nail a three to beat you and send the Lakers to the Finals and you home? OR, do you want to give us ALL THREE bad contracts, Barnes, and we will give you a better draft pick AND Alec Burks. You get better assets back, you send you player to a team that is less likely to compete with you for titles, AND you get Dwight Howard.

It's a no brainer.

Barnes. He allows Hayward to slide to the two and will be the better overall player. I'd would do Thompson in a hearbeat. If I call GS and I ask for Barnes and they say, "Um...I dunno, we really like Barnes. How about Thomps...." I jump in, say yes, hit the fax button and say the papers have been faxed, sign them and send them back.

I maybe don't mention Burks, but if they say no to Barnes, and yes to Thompson, I say, ok, one last idea, how about we give you Burks and you give us Barnes? See if that gets you Barnes.

If the cards fall right in this deal and this year the Jazz could be competing for a title in 3-4 years. Hayward, Barnes, Favors, Kanter, Burke, Gobert, Neto and a high 2014 pick...

I'd prefer to keep Burks but for the right deal I'd trade him.

I hate moving burks but like Barnes for sure. I also like that we have another year on a rookie deal so we are not forced to shell out all kinds of dough before we know what we are.

Sure we've got a chance at Wiggins & Jabari, etc. But are we really gonna get top #2 next year?

Wiggins and Parker are not the only two players of note in that draft. Even if the Jazz end up with say the 10th pick that will still be a hell of a player in this next draft. If you are giving up a pick make it 2015s...

Where do you think Barnes would go in '14 draft? I'd say #7. So that would be better than #10.

Plus we forego "tanking" next season, we can skip a step and start shooting for the playoffs straight away.

Personally I'd rather have Barnes and the 10th or so this year. You can give them the 2015 and probably get that deal. 2014 is supposed to be a fantastic draft. So why give that up when you do not need to?

No way that'll get the deal done with the GSW. Not when you're competing with the Hawks & Cavs who have much better picks.

Thompson/Barnes is the right deal. Those two players are light years better than Burks. Light years.

My point being that if the Jazz can land say Thompson and keep Burks would you do that over Barnes for Burks?

There is NO reason to give away 14's pick. You can easily do 2015 and that wouldn't hold up the deal. They are trying to get the best big man in basketball. They will fold if you offer a 2015 pick and Burks. No one else can offer that. And you don't help the Lakers out.

Hands down best deal out there.

No. I want Barnes. He scored 16 points and 6 rebs in the playoffs. He will be a much better overall player than Thompson. Much better.
