Dwill - Leadership with Rookies ?

Dwill is obviously a fantastic talent.

I wish he would work on his external Leadership skills (We do not know what happens on the inside, he may be awesome).

Take last nite, Hayward starts for Bell. I thought Hayward hustled his butt off, hit his shots when taken, played his role. Did not launch unnecessary shots, realizing that he is not in the top 3 on the floor.

He made a great step forward, played D pretty good.

Post game, Dwill states they missed Bell, needed his defense.

Even he thinks that, is it too much to ask that he ack Gordon and his effort and work to build his confidence.

Hayward , to me, has not been accepted by Dwill......

I hope I am wrong....

As a side note, I do not live in the Utah area, anyone have a link to the new Hayward Subway commercial ?

Thanks!

Dwill knows what the rest of the bball world outside jazz country knows. This kid was a wasted pick. Hes simply not a reliable nba player and he cashed in when his stock was the highest. Smart business move by him because if he would of stayed he would of been a 2nd rounder evebtually. That was shelvin macks team last year not hayward. I watched must butler games so yes it was macks team. He was the leader. Kid like this could of been had in 2nd round. Robbie hummel from purdue is the same kind of player, so is singular. All not going to be lottery picks. Dwill is a stud pg and he wants stud players out their. This kid is getting paid millions of dollars but ya want dwill to comfort him.lmao..JUst like jazz fanz thought kosta koufus was going to be good and i said nope he wont. I watched him in college too. Call it the great white hype syndrom

I think this kid is suffering from HOMONYMOPHOBIA.

and no, that is not a homophobic slur.

You are up to 267 anti Hayward posts. Are you a jilted ex-girlfriend of his or something? Lets get to the heart of this. We can't help you fix this unless you tell us your problem.

I am not asking Dwill "to comfort him".

Just use common sense and show some class.

We have 4+ million invested in him guaranteed.

We have 2 options
1. Give him a chance to succeed and help him like true leaders in other sports do. Management picked him, how bout giving it a go.
2. Do everything to make him fail.

Either way he gets his cash, good for him, this is America.
I prefer #1.

BTW I watched him at Butler also and that team was nothing without him. You will see this year.

Had DWill not mentioned Bell, I imagine you would've posted something like:

"While we now Hayward played well this game, I am surprised at DWill's leadership. He did not once mention Bell in the post-game conference. What message is that sending to Bell? That he's not needed? Or that he can be easily replaced and forgotten? It clearly shows Bell is not accepted."

hahaha, exactly!

I'm with Jay on this. It would have been a good time to mention Hayward in some postive way. That statement does not require that a mention of bell or no mention of bell is required.

Jay - stay on top of this becuase so far, it appears Dwill has NOT given Honzward the benefit of the doubt.

Hayward would respond to hugs and kisses. Less so to a tough the love approach. DWill would have been better served to complement the dude in some small way imo. He may be starting in the back court next to him again soon.

I think all you guys are reading too much into Deron's comments. Of course the Jazz missed Bell; he's a starter, he's a team leader. And he's a tough SOB. Jazz couldn't stop anyone in the 2nd, 3rd and down the stretch. Raja may have helped.

As for Hayward, maybe Deron wants to treat him just like Sloan treated Williams. If Hayward doesn't wilt, keeps working on his game and develops some mental toughness, then maybe he develops into a good player. Deron as the #3 came off the bench for half the season before he got his chance. And he wasn't a very good shooter his first season, averaging just 42%.
Hmmm...maybe we better wait a bit before we declare Hayward a "bust."

I'm with GE on this. You have to push people to find out what their limits are, and learn how they will respond when pushed beyond their limits. Besides, when is Deron ever passive aggressive about things? Most of the time he just stuff outright, or nothing at all about it.

It's not the Navy Seals. Build his confidence some before breaking him down.

He built his confidence in pre-school, grade school, high school, and college. If he doesn't have a backbone, and some confidence in himself despite what other people say, he will probably never get it. That being said, you dont have to kill they guy or abuse him..... and I dont think either of those things is being done to him.

He's all grown up now, he can handle it.
