The Perfect Movie

Gladiator is a perfect movie for me, and this has to be my favorite scene from any movie ever:

def on my perfect list^

A lot of great choices. Some others that I may have missed on lists, but I can watch over-and-over-and-over:

The Big Lebowski (I know...shocker)
The Godfather
Jaws
Empire Strikes Back
The Outlaw Josie Wales
Pulp Fiction - Get on it, UGLI!
The Shawshank Redemption
The Usual Suspects
L.A. Confidential
Almost Famous
Fight Club
Zombieland (It's very re-watchable so shut up)

This is probably the anti-Colton list, with all the R-Rated movies, but they're great movies.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- watched it until the VHS broke.

The Last Boy Scout.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory is on many lists, but not mine.

I'm with Duck now in not rewatching movies anymore, but my kids watch The Avengers a lot and it's always entertaining when it's on in the background.

My list would include:

Goonies
Karate Kid
Princess Bride
Home Alone 1 & 2
Terminator 1 & 2
The Warriors
Tom & Huck
Indiana Jones (all but Crystal Skull)
Donnie Darko
Ferris Bueller
Tombstone
The Patriot
Braveheart (think Mel Gibson is a sad person, but still love these movies)
The Wanderers
Liberty Heights
The Big Lebowski
Raising Arizona
Fight Club
Office Space
What About Bob?
Adjustment Bureau
The Rookie
The Sandlot
My Dog Skip
What Dreams May Come
Bicentennial Man
Seven Pounds
The Bad News Bears
White Men Can't Jump
Pulp Fiction

and so on...

The Big Lebowski
Troll 2
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Superbad
Face/Off
Dazed and Confused
Dirty Harry
Surf Nazis Must Die (anything from the 80's and is wildly ridiculous I love automatically)
The Blues Brothers
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

List, Continued....

Field of Dreams
Bull Durham
Goodfellas
Hoosiers
Airplane
Animal House
Caddyshack

I haven't seen Braveheart yet, I'll add it to my list of movies to watch (edited version, probably). Lock Stock is already on my list to watch some day (edited...).

I agree that Toy Story 1 and 2 are perfect movies.

Probably won't watch The Notebook.

The rest of your list are already on my list of Perfect Movies above, or else just barely fall short of Perfect Movies for me.

Lot of swearing in Lock, Stock

Braveheart can be quite gory so an edited version is best. Also it is a 3 hour movie.

Good addition. I just watched it with my kids a month ago (edited version), and it is a great movie, perhaps "perfect".

That was one of my replies to my daughter about why so few modern movies make it on to the Perfect list--the use of CGI for the most part just makes otherwise great action scenes feel fake. And it's easy for screen writers to rely on special effects rather than actual plotting.

Haven't seen that one yet, I'll have to add it to my list. I loved Happy Gilmore, but most other Sandler movies are just "Meh" to me.

Happy Gilmore is the best Sandler movie. And Log if you like Groundhog Day I would recommend Click. Also, two dramatic Sandler movies are my strong suggestions. I'll write them down when I find them.

I think Billy Madison holds the crown, but I also second your Click suggestion.

My wife (then girlfriend) and I saw Click on one of our first dates, and were so caught up in the emotion of the ending that we forgot about the dog and his toy; so about a week later when we took my grandparents to see it--let's just say they weren't as pleased with the film as we were.

I've actually seen edited versions of nearly all of the R rated ones. My comments on your list:

Big Lebowski - great movie, not quite "perfect"
Godfather - agreed, perfect
Jaws - didn't do much for me
Empire - perfect
Josie Wales - not quite perfect
Pulp Fiction - haven't seen it, will add it to my "to watch" list (edited version)
Shawshank - just a notch below perfect. but on another day I might call it perfect
Usual Suspects - same comment as Shawshank
L.A. Confidential - I'm pretty sure I saw it (edited for TV) a while back, but I can't really remember it
Almost Famous - haven't heard of it
Fight Club - haven't seen, no real desire to watch it
Zombieland - same comment as Fight Club

Colton, none of us will turn you in for forgetting to mention that you watched the "edited" versions :)

This is a safe zone.

Pulp Fiction - haven't seen it, will add it to my "to watch" list (edited version)

Don't. Please, for the love of humanity, don't. "Pulp Fiction" is one movie I would strongly advise you to stay away from, in any version.

Not a movie, per se, but "Lonesome Dove" is perfect and something I can watch on a snowy day when there's nothing else to watch.

An edited version of Pulp Fiction would be like listening to hardcore/horrorcore/Gangsta Rap edited where all you hear is the instrumental until the chorus comes in. Pulp Fiction is pulp fiction.
