Well, frankly, it seems to me that reverse racism is acceptable in our country. As a high school student back in 2000, I was walking around New York City on a trip with friends and I got called "Whitey" a bunch of times like it was nothing. I ask you this: If I had said, "Hey blacky" back to these people, Iwhat would have happened to me? I'm not saying that it is universal in modern American culture, but it is more common than people like to admit. Hypocrisy in America is a way of life...

I agree that reverse racism is just regular racism. However I think it isn't worse because it happens to white pople. Just denied because the victim is white.
 
I don't mean it's worse, I never said that. What I meant was that it is a hypocrisy issue. Some of the same people that condemn racism are employing that same racism to condemn people of a different race. For example, a black rapper that spouts racist slurs all throughout his " music" and then if a white person uses the same words he is offended, angry, and wishes/ threatens revenge. It works in any combination I can think of: black vs. white; white vs. black; asian vs. hispanic, etc.

I only called it reverse racism to highlight its irony. How can you champion changing a problem in society if you blatantly utilize that problem daily. "Don't be a racist", immediately followed by "Down with whitey" doesn't really mean much, does it? I am not claiming to be an expert, just making an observation.

The very idea that the culture is biased against white people in general, and that racism against whites is really a pressing social issue, is so ill-informed and beyond offensive that I can't take anyone seriously that makes this an issue of real concern.

I have no idea how One Brow has the patience to be the face of this particular issue. Ten minutes in and all I can think about is how Dave Chapelle and Huey from the Boondocks would be reading this. It's almost unreal.

So what if a white kid gets beaten and left for dead by a few black kids? Is that a racist/hate crime? Or is it just a crime? If a black kid gets beaten and left for dead by a few white kids I'm inclined to say it would be headline racist news. I'm trying to be hypothetical here. What I mean by this is that racism should not be defined solely by the color of the victim's skin. Black, White, Chinese, Russian, it shouldn't matter who the victim is. Racism is not sole property of African Americans.

I never said it was a pressing social issue. Slow down Kicky lol. I just said that when racism against whites does happen it is often downplayed or ignored. It came up so I commented on it.

Care to elaborate rather than hold yourself aloft of the conversation? I've attempted to explain myself here. Can you explain to me why racism is a problem that only African Americans can relate to? I have made no claim as to the severity of each possible instance of racism; only that there ARE other possible configurations besides whites being racist against blacks. I admit that racism has not had much (if any) impact on my own life, so I'm not perfectly suited to address issue particulars, but to dismiss me completely is just disrespectful.

I do not like racism, it's obviously a bad thing. I just don't see how it can exclusively apply to one group.

As it should be called. I love what Morgan Freeman had to say about racism. Can't we just call crime crime? And ignorance ignorance? Why does race HAVE to be an issue? If we are all supposed to be equals, can't we begin by treating each other that way?

How about you take a stab at answering my direct question about why racism only applies for victims who are African Americans? I'm genuinely interested to hear your explanation.

I have been to NYC 15 times a year for the past 6 years and never been called "whitey".

I was looking for the quote you used and must have missed it. Wanted to address RobDMB.

Obviously there is a difference between a white individual (or any other non black individual) using those terms and a black individual using them.

Same as there is a difference in a white individual saying similar things about white people and a non white individual saying them.

Lived in Memphis for 10 years and was never called "whitey". I have been called "cracker", "gringo" and even "pan blanco" before though lol.

Edit: Disclaimer before someone reads to much into that. I'm not equating what I experienced to that of the average minority in that area. Just an observation.
