Does he deserve a shot at the title? Dude's last 5 fights is a record of 3-2 and his losses were dismantlings.
so you think he does not deserve a title shot?
note:
Anderson silva before facing sonnen was 11-0 in ufc 31-4 overal
Jon jones before facing sonnen was 12-1 in ufc(1 loss comming to illegal elbow. 18-1 overal)(has not lost YET!)
rashad evans 13-3-1(draw) in the ufc and 21-3-1 overall
those 3 had a wining percentage in the ufc of 87% in the ufc and 93% overall.
he stepped up to fight jones on a weeks notice. while no one wanted to fight him n short notice.
he stepped up too fight rashad in a imho handicapped fight.
so does he deserve it? YES HE DOES!
he always steps up. and 2-3 record in last 5 fights or a 6-4 in his last 10. does not mean **** if you dont look at strength of opponents.
is there a middleweight alive who would fight the follwing:
jon jones(at lhw), rashad evans (at lhw),anderson silva 2x (of old), shogun rua(at LHW), bisping, brian stann, nate marquadt, yushin okami and dan miller.
and gets a record of 6-4
maybe weidman could do better then 6-4(but anderson silva of 2013 was not as great as as from 2010). what other middleweight could do it.
but weidman could go 8-2(maybe losing 2 to jones, rua and rashad).
cant think of any other middleweight that might do this.
other top contenders include
vitor belfort(who he will fight) would he be able to go 6-4 likely would he do better maybe depending on trt or not.
machida likely wont go 6-4 vs that competition.
jacare souza, luke rockhold and tim kennedy wouldnt have done any better then 6-4 .
SO YES if he beats vitor he deserves it.
what say you?
