He was also contacted by the Lakers and Rockets I believe.
Me too... I'd also like a more entertaining tank. More Gobert, Exum, Burks, less RJ and Marvin. I say we bring one of them back. Both are super pros.
An important thing to remember is that this is the last summer the Jazz will have significant room under the cap.
Plug in Exum, Hood, a contract for Hayward and roster fill, and the Jazz are somewhere in the $44-48M range (depending on what Hayward gets). So no problem adding 1-2 FA's instead of keeping guys like Clark, Thomas and Murphy.
Next year, though, add in salary for a likely pick in the 10-12 range, plus cap holds for Kanter and Burks and we suddenly don't have very much room under the cap. Probably need to strike now if there's a player the Jazz want to sign for 4 years.
Anyone who thinks Burks > Ariza is blind. He is a better 1-on-1 player, but that is it.
What is the love for Booker? He is about the same size as the second round pick we shipped to Memphis and is a power forward. Why do the Jazz need him?
To steal a phrase, his stats have been pretty vanilla for 4 years. Not a particularly good rebounder (5 in 22 mins/per). Steals and blocks were 0.6/per; so not really a factor. He is terrible from the FT line, though, so good news for all those who feel bad we missed out on Aaron Gordon.Hes an energy guy who plays nasty, Hes really not all that similar to Jarnell Stokes whos 263bs. Booker can jump and hes much better defensively he gets steals, blocks and can hedge screens, Stokes is much more anchored to the ground.
