Agree. If he's a high energy, nasty attitude player, that would be a bonus. On the other hand, with Favors and Gobert at the 5, don't we need players who can shoot from outside? Booker has zero range (a career 1-10 from 3PT range).

Think I'd rather try Ryan Kelly... although he's not a vet. His real plus minus is insane for a role player on a horrible team.

Management views Hayward as a SG. They are trying to find a legit SF. That is Ariza. Burks is a bench scorer. He isn't on their level, sorry. If we can get Hayward and Ariza, we are trading Burks if at all possible.

Burks is a better offensive player than Hayward. Hayward does more things but Burks is the only guy on the Jazz who can break down guys. I bet if you look at Burks shooting it has improved since he has gotten in the league.

I thought the idea was to play our young guys. How is bringing in vets (who are average) going to help develop the players. I want the Jazz to bring back Hayward at the right price and if he wants a MAX deal or a deal way out of whack then sign Ariza and call it a day. Play the young guys, we have already gotten rid of average vets so we could clear the roster and develop the young guys. Do not skip this step or we will be back fighting for the eight seed for a decade again.

Bit of an overstatement regarding the blind part... dribbling and creating offense are kind of important in basketball. Also Burks at 22 scores more per minute and gets more assists per minute and gets to the line twice as much as Ariza.

What were Ariza's numbers when he was 22...

9 pts 4 rebs and 2 assists in 25 minutes per game. Shooting 46% 32% and 71%.

Compare to Burks...

14 pts., 3 rebs, and 3 assists in 28 minutes per game. Shooting 46%, 35%, and 75%

I'm sure he'll tear the league up next year when he doesn't have Wall to spoon feed him. Ariza had a career year in a contract year and will likely decline when he is not paired with someone that can get him his corner 3s.

At very least they are similar in production with Burks having waaaaaay more upside.

I believe the Jazz need to absorb some contracts to match the minimum salary cap. Hopefully this won't be done by bringing in a veteran FA that will only steal the minutes of young players.

You don't have to do this. There is a good chance they will but it is not a required salary floor. Instead they just have to split the difference with their players or something like that. GVC knows the details but essentially you do not have to sign players to the floor.
