You don't find his act selfish? I'm just asking.
Isn't claiming suicide selfish a little bit of a stretch? Is it selfish to not want to feel the pain of hunger? Is it selfish to want not to be pinched by the bully that was held back two years in a row? Is it selfish to want not to be beat up because you're a guy and like spice girls in Junior high? Is it selfish to not break up with a woman that no longer loves you but you fear being alone?
How about not getting blood drawn because you nearly, if not, pass out every time a need pierces your skin?
How about blowing off your toe because you don't want to die in a war you don't believe should be fought?
Shooting your buddy and eating him after being caught because your captors said one of you can eat the other, or we'll kill both of you?
Where, exactly, do you draw the line? More importantly, who exactly would you(or anyone else) think they are to decide where that line is?
Pain is pain. There are people that care, and that's enough for those that aren't sick. But often enough, those that are mentally ill just can't take it long enough to figure out what it takes not to be in that depth of mental anguish all the time.
