That may be true, but the shots have to start dropping.

I agree that they have to.
Not pointing figners but even then people will just continue to hate on him.

Burke is simply not that good imo. I think he has forced things too often and taken bad shots.
I also think that Snyder is partly to blame. Burks and Hayward should be getting more pick n rolls ran for them (and a few more iso's in burks case) and burke should have less
Oh, haven't seen "CJ Miles defense" on this board in a while. Where is my popcorn? To the OP:
1. How many of his shots are taken with <6 seconds left on the shot clock?
2. Of the shots he takes with 6+ seconds left on the clock, how many should he have passed up? Why?
Hey OP, nothing has changed. The haters are still haters. Improvements be damned.
I like Trey but at times he will not pass the ball on an attempt and take, IMO, a bad shot and miss. The dude has gotten better and I'm expecting him to improve. But its those few times where he will want to score and not pass that irritate me.
So, critiquing our players means that we hate them if we see some negative attributes? I guess that coaches and GMs are real haters then, as they must constantly critique and constantly look for the negative, as well as the positive. Got some rosey colored glasses we should all wear all the time? Just don't look at the box score and W-L column? Calling folks haters but offering no rebutal to serious questions is disengenuous. What do you see as Trey's great strengths? Why should he take the most shots?
I don't hate Trey or anyone else on the team, but there are objective facts: how tall is he? When was the last time he blew past his guys and slammed it home? When was the last time he got around the big on the P&N, got into the middle of the lane and dropped it off for an easy dunk? The last one, maybe once in a great while, but not often. Conclusion: he is physically challenged for the NBA, short, not particularly quick, not very athletic. Nor is he a deadeye shooter. And you really want him taking the most shots?
About how I feel.As one of the "haters", I should add that yes he is playing better. I could like him if he doubled his assist while cutting his shot attempts in half.
Are these not relevant questions? I don't see a defense of Trey in any of them.Oh, haven't seen "CJ Miles defense" on this board in a while. Where is my popcorn?
I don't care for many terms "hater" being one. However sometimes it fits.
To your point of course it's fair to be critical. However what people are being critical about isn't A) based on what is actually happening and B) completely ignoring the circumstances that lead to Trey taking a few more shots then the rest of the team.
To answer your set of questions I'd ask if you are watching the games? Burke is getting to the rim A LOT and setting up teammates. Guys just aren't making shots. His defensive efforts and therefore defensive impact is night and day from last year. He just isn't making his 3's which he did during the preseason at an insanely high pecentage. Maybe it's his minor knee issues he had right before the season opened or maybe he just sucks at shooting 3's in particular. The question is are 2 games after a stellar preseason shooting enough of a sample size to really make sweeping jugdments? However the athletic question should be dying down as he's been getting where he wants to off the dribble and not only has that lead to attempts at the basket, but open shots for teammates.
People are asking for Rondo. Go look at his stats in year 1 and 2 and year two was with the "Big 3".
Some useful information. Thanks. Where'd you dig this all up?It's just 2 games so I don't read much into all of this stuff but here are some early interesting stats.
His shooting:
- Burke has taken 4 shots in verly late(4-0 sec) shot clock situation. That's 13% of his shots. Not that much. So please let's not act like he is just taking shots because nobody else does.
- Burke took 15 shots with 3+ dribbles. That is 48% of his shots. He took 6 shots wih 7+ dribbles(19%). In comperison Alec had just 2 shots with 7+ dribbles. I don't think Dr. Q likes that at all.
- 9 of his shots were with very tight(0-2 feet) defense on him(29%) and 12 shots were with tight(2-4 feet) defense on him(39%).
- one actually great thing is he had 11 shots within 5 feet and less(35%).
His passing:
- Burke had five passes to the 3 point line which could have been assists. 2 of them found their way in to the hoop. So that's 40%. Which is an adequate number.
conclusion:
Pass the damn ball more and stop shooting that much. Our sophomore PG shouldn't have the most stots in any basketball game.

For instance, interesting stat: Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors have not made a single pass to each other throughout 2 games.

Edit: He actually had 11 passes to the 3 point line and 6 of those shots were good. So more than 50% which is really good.
