Chad Ford: Exum > Burke right now; rookie player that's most positively surprising

Chad Ford is a freaking idiot. It is completely reasonable and fair to say you think Exum is a better prospect than Burke, but to say he's better now is asinine.

Judas priest. Why are you so ****ing angry? What's going on with you?

Truly ,fanz want Exum brought along slowly,Exum is outperforming Burke in every category....it's in the stats and it's in watching him perform

exum also plays against the second unit.

that explains it all,,,,,,and Burke plays with the 1st unit and has these poor numbers ,does that mean Burke's numbers will get better playing with the 2nd unit

Burke is taking way too many shots for me. And I'm not convince he can be a consistent midrange/3pt shooter... his lack of length means he has to step further out or really have to rush it, both of which impact accuracy.

When it comes down to it though, I just enjoy watching Exum play a lot more.

Yep, burke would dominate lesser competition just like he always does in summer league

Yup, and just after he had dialed it back. I was hoping he had learned, but there he is again taking the most shots on the team, and not making enough.

I loved his post-game quote about taking so many shots: "I was just taking what the defense was giving me." Silly Mavs, daring Trey to shoot.

Quite honestly I don't see Trey playing selfish basketball. He's been taking good open shots for the most part, they are just not falling. If they keep not falling in the long run, it will be clear that he's simply not starting-pg-material.

I don't think Dante is ready to play against starters, especially in defense. We saw yesterday that he's far from the finished product in defense. Most of Dallas' guards were having their way with him. He had trouble keeping in front of them, the screens they were setting were brutal on him and he had no answer for them. I am not sure if this has mainly to do with his technique or simply with his body not being ready. If it's the latter he will have this type of nights quite frequently. Very soon team reports will say about him "has trouble with simplest of screens in defense" and it will be game over until he improves massively.

His offensive game is coming along nicely and his confidence seems to be growing. I am liking the way he's being brought up to be fair.

One thing I noticed is that Exum has a hard time bringing the ball up the court against pressure. Calderon (who isn't known for his defense) kept him from starting the play until there were about 12 seconds left on the shot clock.

Look, whether Exum is starting or not, we aren't gonna be a good team. It makes a lot more sense to bring him along slowly against backups than to force him to play heavy minutes against very good players when he isn't ready. I don't get why some of you are so impatient, whether it's just that you're stupid or being incredibly reactionary, but it makes more sense to have Exum come off the bench for now.

You probably meant Barea. Calderon is with the Knicks this season. But your point still stands since he's not a defensive guru either...

Keep in mind, the vast majority of Jazzfanz posters think the only things that matter for development are minutes and starting.
