Yeah, but would you rather live in Utah or Orlando?

Personally, I'd much rather live in Utah. I've been to Orlando many times. Meh.

If I were Dwight Howard or other NBA player, maybe not.

Not every NBA player is a night-club hopping party animal. This probably comes as a surprise to some, but this includes black NBA players as well.

Still, it'd be naive to deny that Utah is not the #1 desired destination for NBA players. It does have that reputation, after all.

The Jazz have not done too bad a job getting free agents. Remember, for example, that both Corey Maguette and Jason Terry signed offer sheets here as restricted free agents, but the offers were matched by their teams.

I think Big Al was ecstatic to come here, though via a trade. I'd bet there are other players who are willing to give Utah a chance. How many of them are top free agents? Well, certainly not all of them, but maybe some. But I'm pretty certain Dwight Howard is not among them.

This argument was stronger before the Heat won 21 of 22.

But I'm not even saying they're a bad team, necessarily (although I am still VERY skeptical of how much noise they can make in the playoffs). I think that just strengthens my argument.

I'd rather wait to line up with every team in the league and sign-and-trade for Blake Griffin. He'll command the max just like Howard and all 30 teams will be gunning after him just like Howard.

But unlike Howard he has a polished offensive skill set and can operate quite well outside of 10 feet.

I doubt we have a solid chance at either (that is to say, a 1/30 chance) but I'd rather gamble the farm on getting Blake.

D Will and Sap for Blake?

If Blake Griffin ever chose to play in Utah, he would become the greatest PF in the history of the league and they'd have to replace Karl Malone's statue out front.

LOL. His "totally awesome" numbers are about Malone's averages (less scoring than Malone) over 15 years. I dont think so. Same with Nash and Stockton comparisons..I think people forget, or werent around to see, how great those two really were.

In akirac73's defense, Malone's rookie numbers weren't close to Blake's. But you're right, Scorp; uninjured and sustained excellence over an entire two decade career will be tough.
