Trey Burke 2.5 mil per


Isaiah Thomas 7.2 mil per
TJ Warren 1.9 mil per


We have some picks to throw in if they want. Maybe a couple second rounders or a first.


Thomas comes in and starts. Gives us a much needed boost in play making, shooting, scoring. With no real drop off defensively. Exum starts when he is ready. But we keep Thomas around because he gives us another dynamic. Just like how JJ Barea was on that Dallas team won the championship. That team had a lot of unique players and a lot versatility. Barea was absolutley killing teams that year. Thomas can be used as a weapon of sorts. It causes mismatches. Some teams just won't be able to guard a really fast small player like him. At 7 mil per and reducing to 6 per, he comes at a very reasonable price. And it's locked in for a few years. Think what Darren Sprouse brought to the NFL. Small can work if you use it right and have the right pieces around. Rudy is like our Tyson Chandler that makes up for his lack of size and keeps our defense good.

I'd be really interested in trading for Thomas

If we were pushing for the playoffs that would be a nice trade but I don't value Burke high enough. In three years this may end up as huge steal by Phoenix. I wouldn't trade Kanter until he is 25.
 
At least makes sense. Have to consider it.
But as zbone said, I'm just not sure this is the right time to give up on Kanter.

Sure it is.

We have our two bigs , Favors and Gobert. And a 3rd big. Booker.

And Kanter is about to get paid. We don't want our money tied up in a 3rd big. It's actually probably the best time to do something with him.
 
Going the Thomas route means we get Thomas plus someone else because we can afford them.


Also, don't forget about Warren in the deal. Lots of potential there.

With Rudy starting and Thomas and Warren on the team then we might be able to make a push for the playoffs this year. We could be pretty good.

Are you saying Booker > Kanter? Or not worth the money he'll be due soon? Because Kanter seems to have serious potential. Don't let the recent defensive sensation of Mr. Gobert blind us from the ability Kanter does potentially have. He's been injured, but when he's on -- it's a sight to see.

What are you going to do with the money? Go after cheaper established wing and end up with his contract expiring exactly when this team will be ripe for contention?
You can move Kanter's contract if it's reasonable at any time or have it expiring when Exum is up for his deal AND you don't want to keep him because you exactly know what you have in Enes.

In other threads the horse of Kanter's contract extension being non-issue when the cap is on the rise has been flogged to death. This is NOT the reason to move him any time soon.

Ya, but what's missed in your point is, Kanter's contract moves up with the cap. The chance to save money has passed. Even more reason to trade him.

Am I wrong about that?
 
I still like Kanter and Trey and I'm not hoping or looking to trade them. However, if I did I want more than Thomas and Warren. Thomas is a shoot first point guard that stands about (5 foot 10?) and plays occasional defense. Now if we could somehow get Bledsoe that would be more interesting and something even this Kanter and Trey fan would have to consider.

Booker at 6 mil per > Kanter maxed out. Yes.

I am pretty sure you are wrong. Salaries don't get indexed with the cap increases.

Their value isn't exactly bursting at the seams. Thomas and Warren would be a nice get for those two.

Remember how Hayward would have gotten less if he maxed out the year before?


Max salaries are a percentage of the cap.

We are assuming Kanter has the potential to receive a max offer sheet, which will be more next year if the cap goes up.
