What's new

Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks Wed 2/11/15 6:30 PM MST

Chandler and Rondo didn't even play, this was not even a moral victory. Jazz gonna have a long time to think about it.

What?

Pretty sure they still have some really good players on their team and it was on the road. Only reason we lost was because of FT's.

Also pretty sure we don't have Alec Burks, or the guy who backs him up.

Jazz were clearly unprepared for Dallas's defensive gameplan. They shut down our **** bad.

Lol. Yes I did. And I'm optimistic about this team, unlike most on this board. They played well on defense and it kept them in the game. To hold Dirk to only 15 points is a good defensive effort in my opinion.

Yeah, I thought we played good defense. It seemed to me we were scrambling and playing tough. We let Barea get wide open a few times because of breakdowns, but overall we made them uncomfortable (and Ellis wasn''t 100%).

Remember though, the Jazz don't have a single NBA-calibur guard at the moment. Any time the Jazz can stay semi-competent is a moral victory in my mind. Our frontcourt is beastly.

Elijah Millsap really needs to work solely on his 3pt shot, specifically the corner, in the off-season. He has the defensive part down, but his shot blows and he isn't very confident with it.

If it wasn't for Quin screaming go under, we would have won this game. Good defensive effort. We also miss Ingles, he could get us some easy baskets with his passing and took some burden off Hayward.

That is why teams with little NBA experience don't rack up a lot of wins. I'd swear Dirk and Harris together have more NBA experience than our entire squad. This is why the perpetual rebuild is a bad idea. At some point you have to stop adding rookies and add experience, preferably playoff experience. For all of the slobbering about Oklahoma, they really haven't done much because eventually their talent loses to teams with better experience.

On a couple of those Burke was defending both Barea AND Parsons out on the line. He chose Parsons, which was the right move. Jazz defense is back to breaking down on the third rotation.

Lack of experience - every time they went to double Dirk he passed it out until they found a wide open player. When the double comes too early you leave your perimeter players out to dry.

He said game, you turned that into team. That's not really an honest way to communicate. I'm optimistic about this team too but offensively at least they stunk tonight. Defensively the 3rd was not good especially against the guards.

For the ones who asked to see the Halley comet, here it is(hopefully we won't have to wait 75 games until the next sighting):

Well the Jazz hung tough but when you don't show up for the first quarter on the road usually a team can't recover. Our guard play is horrible right now. Exum looks like he is a couple years away from being a steady NBA player. Kid needs to get in the gym and bulk up and then visit Stockton for the summer learning the right way to play. Overall, a moral victory consider how poorly the Jazz usually play in Dallas but nevertheless still a loss. Oh well...

Lol, so tanking for 2 years is a perpetual rebuild? Let's also not forget that draft picks can be traded for experience, and the more valuable the pick, the better the return in trade.

Is it better to go for two there or to call time out and go for a tie? I don't know the stats, but I'm not sure I trust the Jazz to play the foul game correctly. I'd rather have a full chance at a hail mary 3 for overtime.

Stats say 3 for sure. Drives me nuts.

Tonight was a perfect example of how much the Jazz need a point guard so they can close out games. Now with Kanter on the block, I hope they can package him and Trey for something good. Trey, to me, is a real detriment to the team. He made several bonehead plays that contributed strongly to losing this game. Yeah, so he made some shots. He made key turnovers and couldn't guard Barea -- no excuse him being too small in this case.

I saw more of a need for another wing who can shoot/score. How many times did Millsap get wide open corner looks only to drive unsuccessfully?

He's been playing a bit like Alec from those corner spots. He gets a wide open look, but he doesn't like it and goes baseline... with even worse success than Alec.

At least that's something he can work on. Become a bit better from the corner and he'd be a nice player. Although he is lacking offensively, I ****ing love watching our D when the occasional Exum, Millsap, Gobert, Favors, Hayward lineup is in. Incredible.

A bit of a speed burst from Dante:

Too bad we are not seeing it much with ball in his hands...
