Official Jazzfanz Inaugural Poker Tournament 1-29-2011 7:30 MST @pokerstars

How many (and who) have joined the PS Jazzfanz group thus far?

There are 6 people in the group: Myself, you (KrezeeEyezKilla), Franklin, Troutbum and Drakwing Duck. There are several more who have expressed interest but who have not yet joined the group.

I'd been following the discussion with some interest but I'm going to have to pass on this game since The Madame will be visiting from Phoenix.

And here I was thinking you had turned a corner. There was some thread where you referred to to her as your girlfriend (I think it was the Gifford's thread so I didn't think it was appropriate to point it out there) and now we're back to Madame. I just imagine you bowing while extending your hand with a flourish whenever you greet her while saying in a mocking way "Madame."

On a slightly different note, my father always insisted my sister and I call him Papa instead of dad. It was always weird to other kids. He wouldn't even acknowledge us if we called him dad. We tried it once when we were like 3 and 4 (she's a year older than me) and he just kept working. I think he was moving a pile of junk from one part of the backyard to another part of the backyard. We even started yelling at him, I guess as to play along with the idea that he didn't even realize we were talking to him. Didn't even look at us.

My dad always insisted that we call him Rex, so we always did. It feels weird to call him 'dad'.

Please tell me his name isn't even Rex.

If your dad's name is Charlie or something this story is officially awesome.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but he IS Rex. I have an uncle Charlie, but he's dead. Thanks a lot for bringing that up.

Since you said 6 but only listed 5 I'll assume I'm the 6th

Just out of curiosity, do any of you guys like Omaha Hi/Lo?

H/L is fun but not a game I like to play seriously. The problem is that I play low stakes and can overplay, meaning sometimes you have to guess the level of dumbness you're up against. And I'm not good enough for real competition. S. Farha is brilliant at it and I love watching him, but I'd never play Omaha against the guy or anyone like him.

I like Omaha H/L but forget how to play.

High and Low hands split pot 50:50, unless no low hand is dealt (see following). 4 hole cards. Board dealt same as hold 'em. Must use 2 from your hand and 3 from board. Can use any combo for high and for low, including using the same card(s) for each. A.2.3.4.5 is lowest possible. Must have 3 cards below 8 on board for a low hand to be possible, or high side gets the entire pot. A pair or higher negates a low hand. High hands work the same. Same player can win high and low portions in the same hand.
