Welcome to the end of the 2nd year of "the forever rebuild" or "maintain optionality". The previous era was "bake the cake", preceded by "don't skip steps".
Question: What kind of tanking did Denver do to get in their position? What was Minnesota's path? What was Houston's?
Denver got a 2nd pick as their top player and was more of a hybrid. Minny was bad but also did a big-time trade for Rudy and another for Conley so it was not pure tank...
When you pick 9th, you rationalize the players weakness as being acceptable. Which one should we accept and still get a long-term quality player? Is Cody Williams "soft" or is he still nursing an injury? Can Castle shoot? This player is great but he is too short. And the list goes on? Who...
Kanter, Exum, Wizards for 30 years were all part of a tear down, rebuild. Yeah, let's blow things up for a small chance for a star, but most likely a rebuild to nowhere!
So would you do two years of a rebuild/tear down to get an Exum? Me..I would not. I would draft quality without an insane tank, do value trades and keep pushing the team forward. We aren't getting a Wemby or anything like that but we could get a Gianni's or a Jokic. Trust the talent of our...
Players do have a bad stretch. He was ballin' before so it could be a fruitful calculated risk. With a million picks it is probably one that the team could afford.
I am telling ya. Execute your draft picks with smart draft maneuvering and do value trades over the long haul. If an opportunity for a megastar happens then adjust but plan A should just keep on keeping on.
Very solid points, If the.Jazz trade for a superstar, the talent level is so high that a fantastic trade will only make the Jazz an average team. We have to find a way to select a lot players that all hit and are above average. We have volume of pick advantages over practically all other teams...
Chomche/Kessler
Hendricks/Collins
Lauri/?
Sexton/Sensabaugh
Keyonte/Dunn
That's a very intriguing lineup. I am liking Chomche - he could get a lot better. Then find another athletic 2 way player and you got something special. Kessler.and Collins are both backup material so we have have to...
Hardy said they want him to do some of the things KO did for the offense. I guess that means a little bit of of passing from the high post or drive and dish which he did 4 times last night.
I am liking Cody Williams. He moves fast and light for his size (which is what I liked about Bilal initially). Ferg is right, this guy will be pretty good.
