Jazz vs Paperclips

Dang I was hoping for a Lou Williams led clutch tank comeback, but the guys played well, and actually played hard, tonight so i'm happy for them. Love that Mitchell found a way to have a good game tonight after last night, and despite how intense the clippers D was on him. This is what it takes: the guys around him hit shots tonight. If they do that Mitchell will find a way to get his points and we'll win.

Hopefully (or not hopefully for tank purposes) Ingles gets his confidence back and starts shooting again.

Gobert played really well tonight. He has been very good in both these games, and has missed most of the season and is on a minutes restriction. Don't forget how good he is. He and Mitchell are legit two pillars of a foundation. Just need to add some more.

Was happy for Burks too. Not only did he play well but he might of increased his trade value. He's a great dude, a great teammate and a pro, and I hope he gets to play, but I understand why he often doesn't. Sometimes he looks great then he reverts to the old Burks and you just can't have that on the floor. Whether he gets traded or Hood does and that opens minutes for him, I hope a trade happens where he can get some minutes and play the right way consistently.

Hope the Jazz look back at this game and the energy level and determination they put in and use that as a blueprint for moving forward. Not too late to save the season but it's awfully close if they don't put efforts like that out there night in and night out.

I didn't watch this game and haven't been watching games this season. Mostly just recaps and DM45 highlights. So could anybody fill me in on how DM and Gobert playing together looked like this game? I'm assuming Gobert not being able to shoot adversely affects DM's game, so wondering if any adjustments were made...

DM was excellent. There weren't a ton of heartwarming DM to Rudy moments, but I expect those to come. Highlight of the night for DM was definitely his passing. He has exceptional court vision, and I'll be very surprised if he's not a PG someday. Excited to see him and Rudy in the PnR together and watching DM figure out how to get Rudy lobs where he wants them.

He's struggling on the 3-ball right now. 1 for 6 I believe. Part of it is that he hasn't really added off the bounce 3-point shooting to his game yet, and the other part is being more judicious with his shot selection. But I hope he keeps shooting, especially if teams go under on the PnR. It will hurt his efficiency in the short term but I'm more concerned with him getting game reps and adding that shot to his repertoire.

Last note - his step back is lethal. He stops on a dime and just explodes into his shot. That will be unguardable some day.

That Mitchell steal at the end of the game was more amazing in person. The reason Teodosic made that easy pass was because Mitchell had fallen down after his shot attempt. Then he shot off the ground and picked the pass off. The broadcast obscured how incredible that steal was.

That might even be my favorite Mitchell play thus far. Straight up Jordanesque. Miss the 3 we really needed, get up and rip the ball from the receiver on the inbounds and score. That is a will to win right there.

Teams aren't going under on the PNR anymore. they are playing him out to the line then doubling when he drives. That is why his passing game looks so good lately.

If only there were a 6’10” guy out on the perimeter he could dish to that could light it up.
