2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Yes, agreed, it likely doesn't keep up, but is pretty impressive so far.
Its positive for sure. I liked him as a prospect a lot. The interviews and personality stuff I think was enough that many teams took him off their boards. It likely was an over-reaction but we just don't know enough and guys with those types of issues stuff comes out later. Its all muddied in my mind but I remember some rumors of a prospect that said they didn't want to come here... there was the prospect that tanked the workouts (assumed it was GG)... I just think we flat out said we couldn't do it.

Time will tell... with some of these guys they mature and it looks bad... sometimes they figure it out on their 3rd or 4th team. I do think sometimes the medical red flags and personality stuff gets a little too reactionary. Rockets may have had a steal drop in their laps.

It's hard to say about the off court stuff, but I think there are on court concerns as well. Mostly they are BBIQ related questions, for me, where he doesn't seem to have a good feel for what's going on all the time and often makes bad reads on both offense and defense. I'm guessing this is why he hasn't played for the Rockets more since his production has been great so far.

It's just a little strange to me since the dude's a bucket, it's super clear, and usually guys like that get on the court despite BBIQ questions.

Oh for sure. He's a black hole. Even on the stuff you provided its clear he likes to cook based on time with the ball. Those concerns may push a guy to the back half of the lotto with the talent he has... but to get all the way to 20 there were some interview issues.

Houston is good and has some depth so the playing time makes sense to me. If he was on a rat team he'd be playing a lot.

Houston also has Green, Eason, Smith, Amen that are all young players figuring things out so adding Whitmore while trying to win is tough.

Extremely small sample size 12 games total and 11.1 mins per game.
yes, it is a small sample, but he has been good everywhere he's been when given opportunities. good in summer league, pre-season, g league and now the league at every opportunity. consistently outperforming Amen for example in about the same number of minutes. when he gets minutes he produces.

Cam has been impressive, but a big factor in points per touch is that you shoot it every time. Fitting for the player he is haha.
it doesn't hurt that his TS% is 64%. again, small sample, but you also have to be efficient and he's doing that. when you're that efficient, you should be putting it up every time you touch it.

Yeah he’s been good, just pointing out what creates success in that metric. You need to be efficient when you do shoot, but you also need to shoot every time because a pass counts the same as a miss in this context.

By the way….he shoots 5.8 times per game while only touching it 8.1 times per game in the front court. You get the idea, he’s gonna shoot! And so far….hes also gonna score on you.

I was a big Cam guy during the draft prospect and he’s living up to everything. The good and the bad haha. What an interesting prospect the Rockets have. There needs to be a 30 for 30 made on his draft fall.

So wemby had a triple double in 21 minutes last night..................

TH has barely played, but there's a reason why you draft guys like him. If you're 6'10 and can masquerade as a 3&D you'll get paid $100M. Patrick Williams has been benched, but because he's half decent at both he will come away with $100M lol.

This kind of serves the opposite point you want to make.

Cam was only 1-7 last night

Anthony Black went back to the bench apparently. Thats weird. The magic had been playing well with him starting i thought. Anyone know why he came off the bench? Played 9 minutes and went scoreless
