Right. You are the Bizarro World's Dick Vitale.
My best guess is that they just couldn't convince themselves of anyone so they took the guy with the best combination of athletic and size potential. They were also probably depressed Bilal got taken. To play devil's advocate and say this is true, this is an indictment on the FO, no? They selected him. And the guy they're (reportedly) enamored with they selected 7 spots lower.
So are we going to operate on the assumption that they got rid of some deadwood to give THT more minutes? What the Jazz DID after the trades leaves that as the only other possibility.Tim is the national reporter most connected to the Jazz. If he is saying that it's probably what the FO has relayed to him
No, he said it was because they didn't view KO as being a long term piece and they stopped believing in OchaiSo are we going to operate on the assumption that they got rid of some deadwood to give THT more minutes? What the Jazz DID after the trades leaves that as the only other possibility.
This makes senseNo, he said it was because they didn't view KO as being a long term piece and they stopped believing in Ochai
And yet he can still do some valuable things on the court for us right now.I don't really need any random highlights from Hendricks. I need him not to touch ground when someone gives him a mild head fake.
He may be the rawest dude I've ever seen play non-garbage NBA minutes.
But both of those decisions are based somewhat the other options available. They lost faith in Ochai in comparison with what? It had to have something to do with reallocating Ochais minutes. Who got those minutes? No, he said it was because they didn't view KO as being a long term piece and they stopped believing in Ochai
Early in the season you were clear that writing TH off was a bad idea and that people had gone there too soon.I completely agreed. Then after a few decent showings you said everyone had to get on the bus because it was leaving. I said there was plenty of time to get on the bus and that it was far from leaving. Where are you at now with the future of TH?And yet he can still do some valuable things on the court for us right now.
My love for TH grows everyday.Early in the season you were clear that writing TH off was a bad idea and that people had gone there too soon.I completely agreed. Tim MacMahon said the trades weren't made to get Hendricks minutes. Called Hendricks a mediocre offensive player who is a long way away.
Trades were made cuz KO isn't part of the future and they decided Ochai wasnt it
Unless OP jr. Gets the time then I think hardy showed his hand with the rotation last night. I love McMahon but it seems indeed that time will open up for Taylor.Just listened to this….so odd. Bontemps saying the typical line of “opens up playing time for young player” and McMahon immediately shuts that down lol. Sounds like whoever McMahon has been talking to thinks TH should still be in the gleague.
Hendricks is the anti-Ochai. He’s got no good PR.
How quickly people fall in love with or dismiss players is amazing to me, especially because of how often quick decisions are proved wrong. My love for TH grows everyday.
I am mostly in the same space. He's shown some improvement and the get on the bus thing is really just a joke. I just think its hilarious how quick we are to declare one guy trash and one guy amazing. It was really a declare your love and belief now or don't come back here saying you always believed. Its just weird to slobber over guys we didn't get and **** on a guy we did get. Like imagine Bilal had swatted KD like that in the first or second week of the season... there would have been pages about how we have to suffer with our bust while this guy is locking up KD.
The general premise behind Taylor for me hasn't changed. He is something of a Jaden Mcdaniels, Prime RoCo, type and might be a better shooter than both. Its not a particularly amazingly high ceiling... but its a ceiling I think he has a good chance of getting to... and he may end up surprising with some other skills. He's probably more raw than I would guess but they do have him running some cuts of screens that has shown some promise I didn't think would be there.
I worry about his feel a bit and his instincts... I simply want people to let the cake bake and root for him for hells sake instead of ******** on him.
I mean, we are all playing armchair GM here. It's better to make quick decisions than do nothing and have a player's value disappear. How quickly people fall in love with or dismiss players is amazing to me, especially because of how often quick decisions are proved wrong.
Collins ain't coming off the bench until next year. Maybe if they load manage we will see Taylor with that group. Jazz would be too worried Collins trade value takes a hit. Eventually that is the play if you can't trade him this offseason.Locke was talking about how it might be best for Hendricks to start instead of coming off the bench.
I would probably agree. It's going to be tough to fit him in lineups where he makes sense and the starting lineup sans Collins does make sense for him.
He will certainly make more plays than Ochai, but he's going to make a ton more mistakes.I have a hard time with envisioning him in the Ochai role and not having him give you more of what you wanted Ochai to give you. Yeah, maybe he isn’t grabbing as many rebounds as you’d like, but that’s comparing him to a big. I’d imagine his per minute stats across the board are better and his three point shooting numbers are better.
