Taylor Hendricks Hype Thread

Im continually shocked by how much people try to simply impact and a player being good/bad. Brings me back to HH during the draft where he was convinced Hendricks could be a positive impact rookie simply because he shot the ball well in college and averaged mediocre block numbers at UCF.

Yeah, Ochai was not good here, but he was typically in the right spots and making the right plays and playing solid to good defense.

Hendricks is probably going to make more plays per minute than Ochai, but he's going to be out of position, he's going to have crazy drives to the lane that result in hard bricks off the backboard, he's going to look lost, etc.
Agreed. Also expected when comparing a one year of college 20 year old g-leaguer to a 4 year kansas big12 player of the year nba sophmore.

I do think you are correct though. Taylor will make more mistakes almost assuredly. There is context as to why that might be the case th0ugh.

This is part of my developmental theorem: if someone doesn’t get developmental time and piddles out and leaves the league, “they knew all along, see, he didn’t amount to anything.” If someone does well later, “see, the developmental plan worked!” It’s the ultimate confirmation bias.

Also hindsight cognitive bias

Unless OP jr. Gets the time then I think hardy showed his hand with the rotation last night. I love McMahon but it seems indeed that time will open up for Taylor.

Agreed. I just wonder how this media “info” gets distributed. Like how was Ochai the god prospect and all we hear about Taylor is that it’s gonna take a long time.

I still stand by what I thought about him early on. I worry about his feel/awareness…..but he doesn’t need a ton of feel to stand in the corner on offense and make plays on defense. Let him play.

Hardy's interview today about Tay Henny kind of damned him with faint praise. The part that had me scratching my head was "We'll have to see how he carries himself." Has he been a pain in the behind? Not a hard worker? I found those choice of words a bit odd and perplexing. Or is the only way to fire him up is throw a grenade at him?

Link?

TH is a major project with a very high upside.

Still learning basketball basics, let alone NBA basics.

We need to give the kid a lot of rope and patience.

It will be frustrating but big payoff, imo

This made me give a quick glance to the post date.
I was sure it would have been from early last Summer. Nope.

Next time you feel the need to craft a condescending post, first do some homework. There was an entire thread on this topic, my opinion is clearly stated over several posts (one included below), and it has not changed.

By the way, I desperately hope that my opinion is wrong and TH explodes over the next 30 games.

We need a new nom de guerre (or is sobriquet more appropriate?) for Hendricks. TH is too close to THT.

Hendricks seems kinda like the forward version of Exum. He's gonna do some things that almost take your breath away but he's so raw and probably won't ever really get anywhere near that projected hope of him.

Hmmm I find betting that THT will gain the ability to unscramble his thought processes on the court to be an odd hill to die on.
You do you though, free country and all that.

Much of Exum's problem was his yearly season ending injury. That doesn't really have anything to do with who Hendricks is. Hendricks wasn't top 5 in what was supposed to be a historic draft either.

Exum also played pg. Taylor could be pretty effective if he just gets really good at a few offensive things. He doesn't have to have some amazing well rounded game.
