2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

My problem with Holland is that I only watched him twice at the first of the year and he looked so far from a top pick that I kind of wrote him off.

He's one of the guys that when I look a little deeper could rise up my big board.

Yeah, he really gave off a poor impression when I watched him play early on in the season. But overall, his production in the GLeague ain't half bad. I know it's not 1-1....but compare him Kuminga, his production was much better and I think he's a similarish prospect.

Scoot seemingly escaped all criticism for his lackluster GLeague performance so I was surprised Holland has not risen up after he started playing better. Holland is probably not top 3/5 in most drafts, but he may deserve it in this one.

Alright, this discussion is getting dumb, and I realize some of it's my fault, but you aren't really understanding, or even trying to understand what I was saying.

- The knock on Ware seems to be that he doesn't always bring it. His effort has been inconsistent. This is the part that I hear from local media and IU fans.
- The disappointed part is what I said. I do personally think that for someone to have those physical gifts and have effort issues is disappointing.

I also haven't watched many of his games, so I'm not an expert on the inconsistency part. I have seen what looks like effort concerns when I've watched him. I do think some of those things get overblown, so maybe it's not a big deal. I saw your big board and saw that you didn't have Ware in your top 18, so we probably aren't too far apart on him. I would be fine with the Jazz taking a flyer on him with a late pick.

I think where we differ is that I think Ware has actually lived up to his physical traits this year. He is a really solid player with a nice overall skillset but I don't think he is actually as physically gifted as some people are making him out to be. I thought he moved better last year but was insanely skinny. He did a nice job of adding weight this offseason which was badly needed but moves a little clunky right now if that makes any sense. He tries to do certain movements that he used to be able to do at that lower weight and it looks awkward to me. He is only 19 so it wouldn't surprised me to see him look better athletically as he gets used to carrying more weight. I doubt he makes it to our late 1st but in that spot upside value is pretty good.

What are the chances Ron Holland and Collier circle back to being top 5 picks? I feel like they got too much hate. Even if they're not #1 level prospects, it's not like this draft is loaded at the top.

Holland is the guy I want at #9....we may have to move up to get him. I don't think he's a sure thing, but I think the Jazz are going to struggle to get this kind of athlete.
Ron will got top 5 I think. Collier I don't think so.

He was really rough starting the season but then looked great for a pretty good stretch. Then he hit a little bit of a wall before shutting down with his injury. I really hope teams are sleeping on him because he has Jimmy Butler upside in my opinion and we need that toughness on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively he needs to build consistency with that outside shot but I love where the his first step and handle are at this point in time so I think he will be able to get to the bucket consistently in the half court. In the open court he is an absolute monster. We really need guys that can comfortably switch between the 1,2 and 3 defensively and I think he can do that at a decent level pretty quickly.

So would you do two years of a rebuild/tear down to get an Exum? Me..I would not. I would draft quality without an insane tank, do value trades and keep pushing the team forward. We aren't getting a Wemby or anything like that but we could get a Gianni's or a Jokic. Trust the talent of our draft evaluators, development program, and the talent of Ainge to make trades and that's it.

Bracket in good shape thus far, I had Duquesne and Sparty this morning.

My LBSU over Arizona prediction looks tenuous. Monson's boys need to get going,

For a few years I've felt alone in liking Caleb Love (North Carolina and now Arizona). He can score, rebound, drive, defend, and set up others. He is 6'4 205lbs. He stepped up in most big games. I am surprised he has never gotten much draft run during his college career. I think I'd rather have him on the end of out bench than a few of the guys we already have.
