Jackpotting Around Podcast: Episode 9 - What Is The Path Forward From Here?

Thunder wouldn't even trade us Williams for Lauri straight up honestly. They would do Cason Wallace and picks though
I would say no to that.

I know it's perceived as a top weak draft, I'm curious which teams would trade the #1 in a deal centered around Lauri. Memphis? Maybe Atlanta?

Great podcast again!

Memphis, Detroit, Maybe Houston, Maybe Toronto, Maybe Atlanta…

There are always some wild cards too like maybe Wemby wants them to make a move or maybe Charlottes new owner wants to make a splash.

One team I didn’t mention is Sacramento. I think they might get impatient and want to see progress… they could offer 3-4 picks and swaps. It would be tempting even though none are top picks right now. Kings gonna Kangs eventually so it’s nice collecting on that bet maybe.

Best shot at number 1 is moving into the top four and giving a pick to swap places. My goal would be to get him while keeping Lauri.

I agree with this. This might be the best draft for us to get the top pick.... even if we didn't receive with our own

Memphis could be a strong candidate for a Lauri trade as they will be in win now mode. What are they willing to give. Other than this years pick?

Can Memphis afford Lauri's next salary? You have to consider that as well. Any team who is trading for him is going to pay him max money the following year. They would have to lose Bane or Jackson?

They got 35M or so of Clarke and Smart they can offload. Their owner is one of the most wealthy in the league. They are fine… JJJ makes like 25M a year right now.

Smart being "offloaded" after going for two picks last year and not having a chance to slot in with Ja yet would be a part pill, but if they think it'll move the needle then they may do it.

Detroit would be interesting, it would crazy to see a team come off a historically ****** season and trade the #1, but they do have to move at some point

If we can keep our pick this year, nailing our draft pick and getting a great player who (after 2-3 years) could still fit in Lauri's timeline would be huge. That's why I'm a strong supporter of moving up in this year's draft. We already have 3 promising rookies, but we don't know yet if any of them will become a contender team starter. Moving up is obviously easier said than done though, so this could be wishful thinking.

Just want to say that I have loved what I have seen from Hendricks and think he is total keeper. His defensive versatility is going to pay huge dividends in some future playoff series. He is the guy who we will put on the durants, lebrons, Ants, lukas of the nba when we are ready to try to contend.

His shot is worse than I was thinking/hoping, though.

Agreed. On the other hand he has done some other things well offensively that I wasn't really expecting.

He looks like he could be a nightmare defensively though if he keeps working and improving.

From a percentage stand point yeah, but he's been great at getting shots off and has a quick trigger. It's pretty easy for me to visualize him getting better with age and better shot selection.
He’s also a little better attacking close outs than I thought. Long strides so he’s at the rim pretty quick. In spite of what @Elizah Huge says if he will eliminate the yolo three from 5 feet above the break it will help his percentage a bunch. Don’t think I’ve seen it in a couple games so maybe it’s over.
