“Military vehicles are firing at the hospital buildings’ windows, and at anyone who is caught moving between the hallways,” Hamada Abdelhabi, a displaced Palestinian man sheltering at Al-Shifa, told CNN in March.

International organizations have condemned the siege, with World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warning that “hospitals should never be battlegrounds.’

WHO and other humanitarian groups had been warning of an ever-nearing famine in northern Gaza. By late March, 70% of the population was suffering with catastrophic levels of hunger, according to a UN-backed report.

All 2.2 million people in Gaza do not have enough food to eat, with half of the population on the brink of starvation and famine projected to arrive in the north “anytime between mid-March and May 2024,” according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).

The problem lies with incentives. Netanyahu can’t be booted out of office or else he’ll face prosecutions for his corruption. But in order to stay in office he must “look tough” and placate to his rabid right wing nationalist base. So the incentive for him is to go all in in turning Gaza into a wasteland. In fact, ethnic cleansing the area isn’t against some of his base’s wishes.

Meanwhile, Biden is given the impossible task to prevent genocide and help create a two state solution while placating to the Israeli PM who benefits politically by brutalism in Gaza. Biden can’t thread the needle because there is no needle to thread. The two state solution has been rejected by Hamas and By Netanyahu’s government.

So no matter what Biden does, he’ll be blamed for it. If he pushes the two state solution hard, he’ll be attacked by the media (and Repubs) for “abandoning Israel.” Which is silly, they shouldn’t be given a free credit card to do whatever they want. Yet, if he continues status quo, Netanyahu has all the incentives to keep this crisis going and bash Biden (ironically because it helps him politically despite receiving billions in support from Biden’s government). He’ll then be attacked for perpetuating the crisis.

The media has zero incentive to inform anyone about these issues because it gets more clicks to simply bash Biden and make it a horse race between he and Trump. This situation is also way too complex for the average American to comprehend too. This area of the world has been in dispute for centuries and I doubt less than 1 percent of Americans could describe the difference between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. That’s a pretty low level of understanding that we’re dealing with here.

And the low info trolls here can’t even begin to describe what Trump would do differently. All they know is to attack der otter side tee hee *fart*

Whatever. Annelle Sheline is trying to distract from the real reason she isn't with the State Department any longer. Annelle Sheline was/is pro-Houthi. She was very prominent in getting the Biden administration to remove the Houthi's terrorist designation.

It is worth keeping in mind that Hamas is currently holding 5 Americans hostage and have been for half a year now.
