2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

It's not in their interest at all IMO unless Dink has some sort of lawsuit brewing he can throw at them based on the contract he signed.
I’m not familiar. What contract did he sign and wouldn’t it be null if the league is disbanded? I’m sure there is some type of clause in there.

Hope it happens but not sure he will get around the draft age rules because Ignite folded. I'm sure they'd be okay with a one time exception but it will set some precedence potentially. Worth a shot I suppose but not particularly hopeful. Will be curious what the experts think his chances are here.
Why do you want it to happen? I'd rather next year's draft be stronger if he's an actual prospect worth drafting when the Jazz have 3 picks instead of having a semi-interesting guy to YOLO on at 8.

No real precedence because the league is folding for good. Seems like a good one time exception. I have no clue what the chances are though. Would be in the leagues best interest to strengthen a perceived weak draft.
I get that but its the "something ****** happened" precedence. Now since they were involved (kind of) maybe they make it happen. It doesn't change the fact that his age still doesn't meet the criteria.

Where would it stop with "****** things" that make a guy draft eligible. Like if OTE or the Australian league folded or didn't honor a contract does that count? What if the college program they chose to go to changes coaches...

Unless he has some leverage I think they just deny and say sorry. Which sucks.

Wouldn’t he make significantly less money doing that?

Gleague may need to honor their contract with him regardless, depending on how it's written. Gleague could pay the majority of his salary, and a team could pick him up. Otherwise, he'd need to go overseas or just workout on his own.

I think next year's draft has enough intrigue already. I suppose it doesn't matter that much. If I knew we were tanking again next year I'd say its whatevs. It would add some BBQ sauce for this dry *** chicken of a draft I guess.

And maybe that is part of the play here. If they aren't going to honor the contract he will give them the chance to let him in... and maybe in their denial they pay. IDK... it just seems like he has an uphill battle.

Umm… because we have a guaranteed top-10 pick this year and he could be the best prospect in the draft…

Dink Pate was the 30th ranked prospect in this year's class, a class that is considered to be really bad. Why is anyone hyped about him? I would not consider him at 8.

This is like choosing the mystery box and the mystery box is a public restroom stall.

He was a year younger and almost two years younger than a lot of these guys in this draft. Why wouldn’t you want a potential 2025 lottery pick a year early?

Wasn’t GG Jackson the #1 recruit before he reclassified a year early and ended up at 16th? Pate graduated a full year early.

So you like Pate solely based on the fact you've seen mock drafts in 2025 with him in the back end of the lottery?

No, I like what I’ve seen coupled with his age. Seems like you don’t like him based on the fact he was the 30th ranked prospect totally ignoring the fact he graduated a year early.

Unless someone can link to prove otherwise, Dink was never a top 20 guy in any class. He was 30th in the current class.

I'm not seeing any sort of accomplishments that stand out. No experience in international competition from what I can tell. Didnt have an outstanding High School career.

There just isnt enough there to warrant him going top 10 in any kind of draft, no matter how weak. I hope it works out for him, but this dude skipped so many steps I'm worried he stunted his growth.

I think there are some players who can skip levels and be fine. A lot of these Ignite dudes just arent talented enough to do so and I'm a bit worried it's hurting their overall development.
From the little I've seen those ignite players feel like they were skipping a level already.

I don't know enough about him to really know what I think. If he is a top 5-10 guy in this draft it is helpful to us in either pushing someone else we like down or if we like this guy we take him.

Thus ends my Dink Analysis.
