2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

One pick was needed to dump KCP+Cole…so Bane’s value was like 3 firsts and a swap from a team who is in theory going to yield picks in the 20s for the foreseeable future.

With Lauri’s greater salary, I think 2-3 firsts is about right. So I guess it just depends on what your expectations were before. You still need a buyer and maybe that just doesn’t exist, but IMO he should be just a tad lower in trade value compared to Bane.

Bane was near perfect fit for ORL. Don’t think that team really exists for Lauri. Det would probably be best atm.

Genuine question, when was the last time a first round pick, especially an unprotected pick, was traded in a salary dump (besides big brain Lindsey)?

Seems to me like eating salary isn't as valuable as it used to be

Unprotected first round picks rarely get traded in the first place. The Favors pick was not unprotected. But salary dumps will still remain a thing with the aprons regardless. No doubt getting off of KCP and Cole Anthony was part of the value here.

FRP’s have also become more value in recent times, so I wouldn’t say that a lack of salary dumps for 1sts is a reflection of salary dumps.

Btw, I really hope there’s nothing to the Jazz “trying to turn it up” which is what Windy said. I’m ok with lip service. Not ok with trying to turn it up to make the play in and lose our pick.

Only approach I think I could stomach if we are “trying to win” is keeping Lauri, keeping #5 (or moving up), and packaging 21 with a player or two (ie, Sexton, Clarkson, Keyonte) to move up to 14-17, depending on who is included, all while benching Lauri, Kessler, Collins the requisite ~25 games in order to tank.

And Orlando wasn’t going to be one of his suitors, so
Directly - no. But they could have been one of the teams involved in multi-team trades. Now the market is down to OKC, SAS ... and several teams that should not be big buyers but may get prematurely desperate (DET, LAL, GSW, Toronto). If one or both of OKC/SAS decide to wait another year for any big trades then Lauri's value would be quite low.

Damn!!! Bane gets you 4 picks in the future??? I thought the Jazz should have drafted him but Jazz Management at the time thought Azubuike was the 2nd best player available that year. I wonder what we could get for Azabuike.

This Bane return has me seriously puzzled. It’s a mind *****.

If he’s worth FOUR FRPs in today’s trade market we should at minimum be heavily exploring trade offers for Kessler, Lauri, and/or both.
