Not going to read this whole thread, so maybe you're already doing this, but if you don't want to be a useless skinny fat at your new weight, you should be lifting heavy 3x week.
The Warriors have been terrible for about 17 of the last 20 years. The Jazz, on the other hand, have been decent or better about 17 out of 20 seasons. I'd say our model works better.
Very little would have been accomplished by tanking last season. We would likely have added one more wing to...
Again: Why would Washington give up a pick for Al or Paul? All they gain is Bird rights. If they want Al or Paul they can simply bid on either/both in the offseason without sacrificing a first round pick.
Tell me more about this free agent draft. Weird that I've never heard about such a thing--I'd only paid attention to the rookie entry draft.
Then again I'm just a noob who thinks Jabari Parker is going to Duke.
I apologize if you honestly didn't know about the NBA salary structure. I thought you were trying to be a smart ***. How it works is 1st round picks receive a set salary for their first two years in the league. Then teams have two more option years after (the player's 3rd and 4th seasons). For a...
I'm not misunderstanding expirings. Everything I said is true. The only benefit to a team like Washington or Cleveland in acquiring Al or Paul midseason would be to gain his Bird rights. They're not making the playoffs with or without Jefferson or Paul. LOL @ thinking Washington is going to give...
Obviously players are only on their rookie deals for their first few seasons in the league. In Bledsoe's case, I believe he's signed through '13-'14 for a pittance (like $2MM annually), and when his contract expires he would be a RFA, meaning we could match other teams' offers.
Not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic, but a deal like that could at least potentially make sense for both sides. These proposals where nonplayoff teams give up recent lotto picks for a half season of Al to win 27 instead of 24 games are nonsensical and should be treated as such.
So the Cavs would give up the #4 pick in this past draft to acquire 3 players that aren't signed past this season to help their nonexistent playoff push?
And 90% of the trades proposed on this site don't take into account that Al/Paul have basically no value to their teams past this season bc they are UFAs, which is what prompted this thread. Teams can just as easily bid on either of them in the off-season without sacrificing picks/players before...
In general, good players receive less in their rookie contracts than they would earn in the open market bc rookie deals have set, lock-step raises based on draft position and yrs of experience. For instance, as the former #1 pick, Wall probably earns around $6MM this season. If he were a FA...
Even if you pretend Wall/ Nene for Al/Paul sounds fair in terms of talent, the Jazz are only offering a few months of control of Jefferson/Millsap (plus Bird rights). Wall is still on a rookie deal. No rebuilding team is going to give up young core pieces on favorable contracts for 30-40 games...
