2007 Jazz 2012 Jazz

Memo/Jarron/Fes Al/Kanter
Booz/Millsap Millsap/Favors/Evans
AK47/C.J. C.J./Hayward
Brewer/Korver Bell/Burks/
Deron/Price /Hart Harris/Watson/Tinsley

while i was watching the game 7 of 2007 playoffs against Houston, i just thought to compare that team with now. So in 2007, Fes was rookie as Enes, Ronnie and Millsap was sophomore as Gordon and Favors. How would be the result if they were playing against each other? The match ups would be even more interesting. Al would post Memo up all day while memo draining 3s from the downtown, Booz would again post Millsap up while Millsap using his advantage of fast, 1st step etc. Deron would kill Harris on offense but on defense Harris can make him look like old man especially on the open court. And bench would be cool too, Korver against Burks, Fes against Enes, Price the tough man against the tough man Watson. Still, i feel excited and optimistic again for the jazz. Hopefully in 2015 we would compare the champion team with the legendary roster of Stockton, Malone, Hornacek, Russell etc.

You seem to be confusing two teams. The '07 team that played vs. Houston had Fisher at the 2 with Giricek off the bench. No Korver. That was Millsap's rookie year.

The '08 team, whose lineup you laid out above, would absolutely destroy the current iteration of the Jazz.

I think you're talking about the 2007-08 team that had Korver, Fes (although he didn't play in the playoffs) and Ronnie Price. The 2006-07 team was the one that beat the Rockets in 7 games, and they had Derek Fisher starting at 2 and backing up Deron, and Giricek instead of Korver off-the-bench.

Despite advancing to the WCF in the 2006-07 season, IMO the '07-08 team was clearly superior to the '06-07 one and IMO would kill the current Jazz squad by double-digits as they were better at every position than the current Jazz squad. Although the '07 team was inexperienced in the playoffs - they had alot of experience, for the most part had played together for close to 2 seasons and were just at a different stage than this year's team, which is even younger and didn't have a full preseason or training camp to mesh. Also 2007 Boozer was not 2010 Boozer. In '06-07 Boozer was a top-10 player in the league.

I don't think you can fairly compare that squad to this year's team because the overriding issue with the current team isn't about what they are right now, it's about what they can become.

For all the Raja hate on this board, I honestly believe (here comes the zoob in me) that had Raja stayed in Utah instead of leaving to PHX, the Jazz would have won it all that year. I think Raja would have slowed Manu down big time and been a fantastic outside threat for us. Oh well, that is neither here nor there.

After Game 5 was given to the Spurs against the Suns that team was simply on a roll. I watched them just run Phoenix out of the building Game 6 and then we got them next. Raja certainly wouldn't have been able to slow those guys down that year. What screwed us that playoff run was cheap shot bob. If Phoenix takes Game 5 and ends up taking the series we would've had a much better chance against them instead of the Spurs and if we managed to get by the Suns we could've handled the Cavs as well.

Edit: Also to stay on topic I'd easily take the '07 team over today's roster even with Fisher starting at 2-guard.

The 97-98 Jazz team would go 82-0 in today's NBA, 16-0 in the Playoffs, and average winning each game by 50-70 points. They would average about 163.5 per game and allow about 88.9. Stockton would get a triple-double every game: averaging 36 points, 33 assists, 16 steals. Malone would average Wilt Chamberlain's record for points each game, close to 100.6 points per game and snag close to 46 rebounds per game on his own.

With that said, I'd take our team now over the 2007 team...because, **** the Bulls and the Nets, that's why.

Lol..... obviously a joke.
I understand why you hate the Bulls, but why so much the Nets?

I don't really hate the Nets, it's just the other team in the league that has all our old players on it from 2007...But honestly, I think we're sitting pretty good right now as the team. The future is really bright for these guys, but I do acknowledge that 2007 team was built well enough to win and go deep in the playoffs. Although I feel that it would be a good game, the 2007 team would beat the 2012 team, but the 2012 team has championship potential, something I don't think I could say about the 2007 team. jmho.

Are you kidding me? I'd take Boozer's 35, 14, and 5 in the Jazz's only game 7 victory on the road, EVER, over anything that this year's team could produce, except for a championship.
