2014 NBA Playoffs: Conference Finals

Hill is the #1 problem? You folks must have seen a different playoffs than me.

True, he is one of their problems.

But what about the guy who was the most scrutinized player on the Pacers over the past few weeks?

How can you win when your 7 foot 2 center plays like a 2 foot 7 teddy bear? How much is Indy paying him?

Gobert is more of a presence than Hibbert.

Hill isn't their #1 problem, hibbert is. Then poor PG play/Frank Corbin's offense. Finally, not enough shooters, Kirk Snyder will always hurt you more than help, and Turner sucks.

i understand your point. yes, hibster is as soft as my toy poodle, and they are stuck with this sadness. but if he can just be a consistent 11/7 guy and gives you decent defense then there is a salvageable value.

but hill running a point creates so many problems. they can't score because their pg can't create shot opportunities for others. he is a decent player, but decent won't get the job done especially against the champ. hill got abused and looked like he didn't want anything to do with miami. you need some toughness with speed to counter heat's weakness.

in a perfect world westbrook and george would be a perfect match. even better than westbrook/kd because there will be a synergy between those 2. westbrook will be a clear alpha dog. george would become a scottie pippen. george would focus more on the D, and worry less about O and just run with westbrook. but of course, that's not gonna work because pacers don't have pieces to get westbrook.

Lance Stephenson was great for them this year and was overall a positive for the team, especially at his contract price. That might change depending on what his contract is going to be. On second thought, I don't think he will lose that much money. All of his antics have been weird on-court issues (if I'm not mistaken), and nothing of serious issues. The Kirk Snyder comparison is dumb as **** and I would expect no less from Helen.

George Hill the problem? He isn't an ideal starter, but he is a great 3pt shooter and a good defender. He plays his role and does it well.

I will say the Pacers biggest mistake was trading for Evan Turner. Danny Granger might not have produced in the playoffs at all, but he was a veteran leader on the team. By bringing in Turner they just brought in a young player who was derivative to what they already had, but much worse and unable to play any kind of defense.

Anyone who says they need to get a new coach is mentally deficient. You don't give up on a coach who has done that much positive so quickly, unless you are guaranteed at being able to sign Phil Jackson or Popovich.

They will need to upgrade their bench to add some scoring/shooting. They will need to add more athletic ability on their front line.

If I'm the Pacers I try my hardest to get Carmello. Carmello/George makes a ton of sense for a superstar combo team. Offensive superstar with some defensive deficiencies and a defensive superstar who doesn't have enough offensive to consistently carry. If that doesn't work, I'm going after Hayward, then Ariza.

They could also go after Greg Monroe. He isn't an athletic PF they probably need, but he is young and talented and has enough size to at least masquerade as a C at times.

that's the problem right there. hill is not an ideal starter. if he is a backup, then he would be one of the better backup in the league. but he is an undersized SG playing PG. dude doesn't know how to run the point. dribbling around and passing to whoever is open 15 sec later is not a point guard. just look at his assist numbers. pacers' offensive problem starts with hill. and because of hill's inability to run the point, they let stephenson initiate the offense because lance can take it to the rim. but he is too wild, and can be very impatient.

their back court was exposed. only solution is to improve it. given the choice of improving the backcourt or front court, i would choose the backcourt.

Let's also not forget the Shaq/Kobe lakers. They would kill anyone other than maybe the Spurs right now.

We jazz fans don't respect the Lakers like we probably should.

....correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Stockton/Malone Jazz sweep the Kobe/Shaq lakers early on when they teamed up together? Malone and Stockton were in there prime, and had more basketball brains than the entire Laker team combined! I think Van Excell was on that Laker team, too! That's when he came up with the classic line when asked what can be done to stop the Stockton/Malone pick and roll: "Bring a baseball bat to the game and kill one of them!"

The Shaq/Kobe regime didn't officially begin until Phil Jackson came in. Those teams were as good as anyone I've seen. Shaq and Kobe under Jackson was the best 1-2 punch I've ever seen.

not sure if serious

I think the Spurs are in the top 5 Dynasties of all time, probably top3. Even if they don't win the Championship this year. It's nothing short of amazing what they have done the past 15 years. It's some of the best basketball you will ever see.

i disagree. you can't be a dynasty without back to back wins IMO. but they are one of the top organization in all sports.
