yeah. that's why I added the term "prospects" after it lol. elite 3&D talents, or elite talents of any kind, will take time to develop. just look up Porter's stats during his first two seasons.is that why our percentages from 3pt range are so fantastic and our defense keeps getting torched by good guard combos?
3 AND D players aren't abundant. The GLeague is full of scorers who can't defend.Utah loves supposed defenders who can't shoot.
I wasn't too in love with Porter. I was intrigued by Parker, but he's pretty expensive. Would have liked him for expirings.
what I am saying is purely from a skillset standpoint. 3 and D aren't exactly "unique" skillset cuz those are the most translatable skills when it comes to playing in the league. hence you can always pick up a bunch of 3&D projects and let them polish their games.
And as for Gleague scoers who can't defend, I doubt their offense translates to the NBA level. Jabari's does that's why people are still talking about him right now. So are the reasons that Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams still have a job in the league despite not guarding a chair. it's way harder to find NBA level scorers who can carry team's offense than 3&D guys. simply because you have to be elite in the scoring department to even receive playing time, whereas you only have to do an OK job as a 3&D player.
