2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

Same with Kuzma, I think he would have made sense as a target before the Hendricks pick but now not so much.
Calling my shot in Kuzma… he will get signed by the Rockets or Kings after every team uses them for leverage.

FYI, 'everyone' is going to be 'linked' to the Jazz that demands high money. Not many teams can offer what we can
This will happen a lot… same with trades… we have lots of stuff so lots of teams will be linked to us. Should be fun for slop season.

I tend to agree here. I genuinely didn't think we'd get Hendricks, but Kuzma is a bit redundant with him on board now. Utah has some interesting players at pretty much every position except a true PG. Even then, we're not exactly hurting there.

Probably. We're in the "we have some fun stuff, but we want MORE stuff" mode and there isn't a lot of opportunity to move this project to a contender yet. I still would prefer not to overspend on just one deal unless we're absorbing for an asset. If we could get someone like a Bowen with breaking the bank, do that and just left our players gel and develop. I wouldn't mind a good vet or two to help mentor the core we are putting together, but that's a "would be nice" rather than "must have". Smart deals, develop our talent, let them play. The fact we have an All-NBA caliber guy in Lauri and an Team USA caliber center in Kessler is just absolutely nuts. So let's add to that a couple of younger shooters and an 3D guy like Hendricks? Unff.

If true this does offer some insight into what we are going to do with space…looks like we will at least attempt to add some win now talent.

Tony mentioned we might kick the cap space until next year but that would mean trading for expiring salary or signing 1-year deals.

I could see that… I think we at least try and find some long term acquisitions first though.

That makes some sense, though I imagine they'll probably look to absorb some expiring w/ an asset attached first, then flip at the deadline for another asset. Don't see much on the FA market that's attainable that moves the needle that much, so would rather just grab some decent roleplayers relatively cheap a go with depth if we're going in the win-now mode.

It makes a ton of sense to push the capspace to next year. No matter what we do this offseason we aren't a contender so it makes sense to focus on player development this year so that we actually have an idea of what caliber of players we have going into next offseason and what type of holes we need to fill. The last thing we want is to sign a bunch of vets that make getting consistent minutes for some of our young guys difficult and we go into next offseason not really having a good idea of what we have.

One guy to watch for a one year FA deal. Josh Richardson… it’s not super sexy but he did pretty well operating as a psuedo-pg for NO. I could see us using 12-13M on a 1+1 deal for him and having him fill in some gaps in the backcourt or wing.

That is a plan K type of thing if the better options don’t come through. Guys like that can become minor trade assets at very least.

I think we need to hunt in both markets though… we will have space next year as well… unless we go hog wild… don’t want to sit out a market that may yield a good opportunity. If you sign a solid deal the player should be an asset you can sell off later if need be.

I don't think that's a bad idea, but I'd probably look for younger players that need to continue to develop and take a flier on. Small amount/years deals that don't really ding anything. I'm also not obtuse to using our space to absorb a deal for an asset, but insomuch as it doesn't really take away playing time from the kids.
