2025-2026 Tank Race Prediction Contest and Current Results Thread

I wonder if the timing of ours and others tanking could be problematic. I believe the board of governors meet during the all star break and I'm sure tanking will be a topic. They likely won't/ can't do anything about what is going on, but I think there is a chance they decide to do something drastic.

I wouldn't expect anything too drastic.

At the end of the day It's more than 2/3 of the league that have the draft as the most reliable way for building a team and voting for going against that is just opting for cutting your own head.

We really haven’t done anything other teams haven’t and haven’t been nearly as extreme in most cases but we tend to get all the attention which is wild. Again and for the thousandth time this season… this is one of the reasons you do your work early.

In the post you quoted I wasn't specifically referring to Utah, but the combined tanking efforts from all of the teams that is getting attention. I could be wrong, but I don't know if there has ever been a year where so many teams have done such obvious things to try and lose games so early in to the season. There at least hasn't been as much media attention about it as there has been this year that I can remember. It feels like in the past most teams haven't gotten super grimy until March.

Again, this isn't Utah specific, I think it's a league wide trend that I'm sure will at least be addressed when all of the teams meet.

I think the biggest heat source is our record vs our roster, not the methods or timing of them. We also created a lot of tank animosity last season by finishing dead last and that carried over.

If we right now stood at 13 wins, do you think the heat would be lower, even if we didnt do stuff like we did against Orlando? My gut feeling says people would be even more enraged if they saw us at the very bottom.

OK, so I think it's WAS, UTA, DAL, SAC, IND, BKN, MEM, CHI that will be actively trying to lose as many games as possible, in that order. I'm not sure what MIL will do, but they are bad and NOP is obviously bad as well, but won't try to actively lose games.

SAC has 7 games against the teams actively trying to lose games
IND has 7
WAS has 5
BKN has 7
UTA has 6
DAL has 4
MEM has 7

The tank race will in some degree come down to how bad of a team you can put on the floor during one of these tanking battles.

Well, for sure we came out of the deadline with less tanking power... which always was a logic output since we are ahead of a bunch of other teams in the rebuilding process.
That's why you've got to suck since day 1 all the way to the deadline.
We're stuck at 6 or 7 worst I guess... is that more or less one chance in four at a top 3 pick?

Agreed. Which sucks for us. We will have a hard time putting a worse team on the floor than most of those teams, if not all of them.
We should have started actively trying to lose games from game 1 dang it.

No lol... the heat wouldn't be as bad because you did it when no one was watching. If you listen to the discourse about the Jazz at all, you would hear an assumption that we have been doing this all year which isn't remotely true. Its also odd that Kings, Pacers (loads of talent), Wiz have done the exact same thing we did MULTIPLE times this week. And the Eye of Sauron has been fixed on us since UPROARgate that started a couple months ago.

Its wild that Indiana benched a two-way player who had like 24 pts in 17 minutes on a night they were benching 5 of the 6 best players on their roster... and there has been no mention at all.
