2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

The question of the offseason in my mind is if we can trade up to #2. I’m not interested in trading up to #3 or #4, we’re not trading up to #1, and I’m not trying to trade down, either (unless someone came at the Jazz with a crazy offer). I would also like to trade up from #21.

I’m confident Harper is a piece you can build around. I’m not confident in basically anything the Jazz have right now in the context that the Jazz are in.

#2 + #14 + salary filler for #5 + Lauri is what I’m praying on.
I would do this trade...might even throw in #21 if it's a deal breaker for them.

Hoping the Spurs aren't looking for a bigger fish such as Giannis with all their assets. Ofc it would suck to see Lauri in San Antonio but he's going to be at least 30 by the time Jazz are seriously ready to start winning games again.

That isn’t going to happen. I’d be surprised if they did that deal minus 14.

They’re going after Giannis. But Giannis and Milwaukee are going to have to want to do it also.

My gut says if the Bucks can turn Dame and draft stuff into real win-now pieces then he’s gonna give it another go.

I hope we are actively pitching Mil. A side benefit they could sell Giannis on is if it doesn't work with John and Collin the team would have a lot of cap space with just Giannis and Kuz on the books next offseason. I would be driving so hard for that 2031 pick with as little protection as possible if I was Utah.

Maybe has been discussed a lot but haven't kept up with the threads, but seems like any Lauri trade is greatly benefited by doing a Milwaukee trade that convinces Giannis to give it one more year, and Sexton/Collins expirings and 2025 seconds for Lillard and top 4 protected 2031 1st seems like it is a short-term play that Milwaukee FO would palette. Probably not enough to get Giannis to buy-in to stay, but he seems like a guy who would prefer to win in Milwaukee if they could sell him on another year. Maybe a three team could work if they don't want Collins as much with Giannis/Portis/Kuzma.

Then that makes Lauri a much more appealing target for San Antonio with #2, Philadelphia with #3, and Houston with their stuff. Doubt Philly can get close for Giannis, and probably shouldn't be selling for the Embiid years anyways, but they still probably wouldn't do anything until the Giannis domino is decided. Spurs are cautious, but year 3/4 Wemby is probably one of their best opportunities to really compete even without any injury concerns that are always there with giant prospects like that. Actually salaries seem hard for Houston so IDK.

I wish Portland had their 2026 pick to trade outright, they seem like a team that could sell themselves on being closer than they are and doing a trade but still ending up ~12th in the West next year if things break wrong. Plus make it on draft night and get #11, couple more picks, maybe some fliers like Rupert or Murray. Jerami Grant is also an easy negative contract to make work that we could eat. Lauri would be a nice piece for their team (like any team), but I still wouldn't trust their team.

Being from fake Finland, Lauri is my favorite player ever for the Jazz, but it just feels unethical to keep him another year.
