2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Lauri -> PHI
George -> MIL
Lillard -> UTA
#3 -> UTA

Once upon a time I remember when there were discussions about #3 (Scoot) for Lauri. Lauri had just come off an all star season, but we also weren’t helping POR get off a massive negative contract.

I think Philly may do a trade down and pick up other stuff but I’m guessing they try to see if PG and Embiid can be healthy and either compete or recover some value. I think they split the baby if they move the pick. Just the impression I get. I don’t think they move it outright. I think that trade is fair though.

Seems to be what their fans are thinking. OTOH, Morey is very much a big fish kind of guy, so I could see him going for Lauri even if splitting the pick into multiple pieces might be the most sound move.

Could add in another team well. Lauri could be split into multiple pieces and sent to PHI. I'm even open to taking on PG's contract if the price is right and MIL doesn't want to do the swap with Dame.

I listened to Morey on Rights to Ricky Sanchez pod. Just the impression I got was everything depends on Embiid and if he was healthy I could see them doing PG and 3 for something good. But if he’s cooked getting Lauri doesn’t really matter all that much. So could see them trading back and getting multiple picks or young vets.

One thing I wondered is if they’d do like #3 and the 28 clips pick they have for Walker and #5.

A popular trade idea created by Grizzlies fans is making its way around Grizzlies Twitter right now:

John Collins + 5 for Jaren Jackson Jr
I actually kind of like that if they wanted to do a compete thing. Walker/Lauri/JJJ would be a crazy front-court trio. It probably wouldnt work, but one of those fits that would just be an interesting experiment.

It works perfectly on the trade machine.

I’ve sweetened the deal by giving the 76ers our #21 pick.

Embiid / Markkanen / Maxey - this trio will make next year’s East Finals and should win it given that Tatum is out next year for the Celtics.

Sixers would be adding something, not taking an extra pick. George's contract is potentially a cinderblock.

If we had JJJ/Lauri/Walker, then combine them with Jrue Holiday? Could we get Holiday from the Celtics for cheap given their financial woes?

If Keyonte was ready to step up and a be star scorer, I could see it working, but we have no reason to believe he would be ready. Jazz would still lack that reliable primary creator that could make the 3 big lineup work.

I'm not very familiar with the Grizzlies but isn't JJJ a crazy good player? I.... would consider this. It would be anti timeline so to speak but JJJ might be the caliber of player to accelerate for. JJJ would be a 1 year rental, I wonder what the extension number would look like (not sure of the extension rules). It would open up some interesting team building options.

Imagine we combine this move with something like:

Lauri + #21 + other stuff
for
PG + #3
(slightly hopeful trade but I don't think its out of the ballpark)

We would have PG/JJJ/Walker

with the #3 pick for Tre or VJ or whoever else

Would this situation even work out cap wise?
Is this even a good approach?
I don't know, but its pretty interesting.
