2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Fanspo claims this works, IDK if value is quite right but looks close to me. If the Rockets wanted Sexton instead of Clarkson I think they could send one more of their non-premium (Reed) prospects our way.

The more I think about this, the more I think we'd probably have to ship 21 or multiple future seconds to PHX here. I suppose they could also keep Smith for themselves and we could keep Collins with a little more fudging if they prefer that.
surely if we are adding 21 in too we would be getting back Şengün and Amen right?

KD is sending out info that he wants to go to the Spurs.

Fox+Barnes is a pretty reasonable trade here, but I'm not sure the Spurs can trade Fox as they have likely agreed to a contract extension with him already and he may refuse to extend with the Suns.

If they can't include Fox, things get weird.

If that's what Cam's value is, Lauri's value starts with a " - ".
While its not great... I do think last year is one data point... two years ago is another. All the data points matter. The salary being 2x is a problem...

If that is the market we hold onto him and cut other places. I would try and be more normal with Lauri and see if it is how we are using him or if he has had some decline. I think Cam had multiple firsts on the table last year so maybe they missed their window too?

Not really... picks Barnes/Johnson is close enough.

Just based off the DDR rumors and the Kings having interest in Collins last trade deadline.

I think Utah would just get a few 2nd rounders combined from both teams?

Even if Lauri was at his peak this is bad news, shows that the value of this archetype is down—or maybe it was never as high as we thought. Cam played better than Lauri this past season and his value seems to be half of what it was.

I think Lauri is going to be hard to move. He is both twice the money and twice the years. We hear it over and over again, the new CBA is making teams more financially conscientious. I doubt there are many teams who are wanting to take on that massive commitment.

Seems likely we'll bring Lauri back and hope we don't just throw away our pick.

I think you could finesse a first somewhere or maybe Jovic or Carter depending on who is more motivated. I could also see a direct deal with Collins to Miami for Rozier.

I think there is a massive difference between peak Lauri and peak Johnson which justifies the cost difference... if he can get back to it. And I struggle to call it "news". If they limit the market just to the top 10/11 teams they are also narrowing what they want back so might find it difficult.

I don't think the second part is out of the question though... if we are already in the market that says Lauri is worth not much or even negative then what choice do you have? Cut elsewhere and play the cards on the table. If every dollar counts more then Kessler should have wild value... move him, Collins and Sexton.

The difference between the two doesn't change the idea that the value has dropped for this player type. If Cam's is less, so is Lauri's. It wasn't poor play that has seemingly dropped Cam's value. I also don't think many teams are wanting the expensive upgrade over Cam. Maybe in a CBA where teams routinely had 3+ big money players, but now that's a luxury teams can't afford.

If our pick wasn't at risk, I'd be all for keeping Lauri. We might have to do that anyways and if so you have to get rid of every other vet that can play or it is negligent. I'm more optimistic about AA doing that than DA, hopefully that proves to be true. If there's any hesitation to not trade Collins/Sexton/etc because it's not good value I'm going to lose it.

I guess I see them at their peak as different player types... not quite to the level of the example I am going to give but difference between SGA and Sexton. That is an extreme example but teams sometimes pay extra for the premium version... but if the news is true I agree... I think there has been a shift in the market for expensive players... so yeah its not great if its real.

I have no idea how we approach things but I would still think we could get a couple picks for Lauri and that may not be represented in this news because it seems Nets are looking for something specific. Like if we moved Lauri to Det for 26/28 first and expiring salary is that less value than Cam + 19 for like 10? I could see both deals happening because its not a perfectly efficient market but if they are just looking for a move up deal then I wonder if they narrowed the market too much?

I think the KD trade will be the one that determines what happens with Lauri. Do we enter as a third team there and send him to Phoenix? I don't think Detroit does anything. I could see the Heat swing and miss and then pivot to Lauri. I'm ready to settle a bit but wouldn't do it for like just the Milwaukee pick and Dame or something like that.
