On the other hand, they do appear to be be willing to give up a chance at a top 4 pick in a loaded class to add Ivica Zubac.

It's protected 1-4. They cant give up a top 4 pick. They can give up 5-9.

We wouldn't be having this conversation at all if Pacers haven't already done so for a worse player in Zubac... They literary gave up 47% chance at landing a top prospect in a loaded class to add Zubac, which is a LOT. And more if you take into considerations of the talents they SURELY would miss out on in the 5-9 range.

Worse player sure, but he's also cost controlled so he has more value to the Pacers.

Why protect the pick 10-30???

Clippers may have wanted that protection if they think '31 unprotected is more valuable to them than 11-30 in 2026.

Its at least something you can save for future trades
