Were he able to get position I would agree but Hayes was able to push Al way off the block (and Al isn't able to get deep position and get the defender on his back) so he was forced to shoot contested face-up jumpers because Hayes also has the quickness to body-up on Al. I saw atleast 2 occassions where Al was able to get deeper but when he tried to turn middle Hayes (much like Duncan in last year's playoffs) overplayed him on his left-shoulder and forced him to turn toward the baseline but Al was too far beneath the basket to get a shot off.A simple push shot would have been Al's best bet, since Hayes couldn't bother it in the least.
The best bet for Utah would have been to recognize Al's game was not conducive to scoring on the low block against Chuck Hayes and run more screen-roll or flex-offense instead.
