Give me a break. I have been shooting a .22 since I was 4 or 5. I have never pointed a gun where I didn't want it. You have to teach your kids not to play with them and also lock them up or hide the bullets.

But Chicago has a higher murder rate than other cities that do allow concealed carry. You ignore those cities but do not ignore the few cities that do have a higher crime rate. Also I notice how once again you are linking wikipedia as you are a wikipedia scholar/psuedointellectual. The vast majority of cities that allow concealed guns have far fewer crimes and murder than Chicago. It is ok One Brow, hopefully when you are 12 or 13 years old you will develop some sort of rationality and will not be so easily humiliated and defeated in debate.

Cops have shot and killed more people by accident than any concealed carrying citizen . Actually the numbers are quite staggering.
As I said, I'd be open to the discussion of it at least.

What punishment could society possibley inflict on the 5-yr old or his parents that is worse than the consequenses they are already living? What benifit would society gain from enforcing more punishment?

What are you going to do? Go to millions of peoples homes and collect hundreds of millions of guns??? Drugs are illegal but people get them anyway. Guns will be no different might as well let people have them to protect themselves.
Yes you need training to carry a concealed weapon. Last month utah stopped a law preventing that. IMO was a great thing to do. I don't want random people hiding and carrying a gun without training. I have no problem taking the class and getting that training. Responsible people with guns are not the problem.

I still do not understand the need for guns for all those responsible people. Is daily american life so dangerous that you need a gun in 88% of households? I get it if you work some night shifts in downtown of big city or live in bad area, but for average Joe Smith somewhere in Hayden, Idaho - why would he need a gun???

Even most responsible people can make fatal mistakes. Having so many guns is just asking for problems, thats why it keeps USA at the top of the world in firearm related death/injuries.
In 2008 there were 680 accidental shooting deaths in the United States, with more than 15,500 shooting injuries. Most disturbing, perhaps, is the number of children involved in accidental shootings. Every day approximately five children are injured or killed on a nationwide basis as a result of handguns. The primary cause of youth-involved shooting rests with the fact that children find loaded handguns in the home – and natural curiosity leads them down the road to disaster.
Each year approximately 100 people are injured or killed while cleaning a firearm and failing to exercise proper caution.
^That just screams for better control. How to do it? Not sure I can answer that.
