I wouldn't take Jabari #1, and I don't think we are his top spot to play either.

Jabari is from Chicago.

He went to Duke.

He is dragging out his announcement, IE, garnering more publicity.

I doubt he is pumped to play in Salt Lake City (especially after the embarrassment that occurred when he visited Provo, grow up people) or Milwaukee. I bet he hopes he ends up in LA or Boston or Orlando before Utah.

What happened when he visited provo? What was embarrassing? Are you talking about the shirts that said BYU has pretty women than Duke?

This thread might not even be relevant by the end of the day (seeing Jabari might stay at Duke) but didn't we already have a big who could score 20 PPG but couldn't play defense? Jefferson... How'd that work out? plus he'd be undersized...

Though I hope Jabari declares, I would like to officially declare I am off the Jabari Bandwagon as a top 3 pick.

The Start of My big board looks as follows:

Wiggins
Exum
Embiid
Gordon (If he's 6'9... Parker if Gordon is 6'8)

Ya'll should not have Parker in your top 3 either.

He seems like a great kid and all but...

I disagree, but only to a point. If we get a coach that can motivate, I think we should get him.

I actually saw some statistics that said BYU had the smartest and best looking girls in the country. I should probably look that up though.

I'd still love to get Jabari, kid is going to be good, alpha dog on our team from day 1. You can't say that about Wiggins.

That being said, I'd still be as happy if we got any of the top 4. Though I do want more of a 3 or 4 player with an outside shot.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Even though it is a bit crazy to think he wouldn't like to play here. You do have to wonder if he is a big city kind of guy, and is he going to bolt for the bigger city the first chance he gets. That's one of the reasons why Wiggins is my #1. He comes from a small city and I think he would mesh in better with the team.

if you think you are getting a 20pt scorer then don't pick him top 3. if you think you are getting a 25pt scorer than go get him.

Another thing to consider is that Favors is the 40th best defensive center in the league this year based on statistics. I know other factors come into play but as Locke pointed out, this might be because Favors is undersized to play the 5. This would of course mean that Playing Jabri at the 4 and favors at the 5 would only spell disaster.

This. The Jazz are undersized at almost every position with a Parker as PF scenario.

C. Favors - undersized
PF. Jabari - undersized
SF. Hayward - undersized
SG. Burks - perfect sized
PG Burke - undersized.

How could that team ever matchup with the like of OKC? Etc. traditionally, the successful teams have a perfect to oversized player at PF, who is either a two way player, or just offensive minded e.g.,:

Portland has Aldridge
Mavs have Dirk
Clips have Griffin
OKC has Ibaka
Spurs have Duncan
Warriors have Lee
Grizz have Gasol
Bulls have Boozer

Some of those players can play defense, but most cannot. The most glaring thing is that they are all very good offensively. Lee is the least inspiring out of them, and he is the one that is most undersized.

We already have an oversized offensive minded PF in Kanter. Favors at PF doesn't do much for us because he is so limited offensively. We tried Marvin this year at PF, a brilliant SF defender, but we ended up 30th in the league defensively. We just can't play undersized, it doesn't work.

I was listening to Dennis Lindsey's interviews archived on 1280, and he was saying how are defense worked best when Favors was under the rim, but that was ultimately the role he sees Gobert filling for us. He also saud he was and is very high on Kanter (this is back in Jan when Kanter was struggling), and said that it was on him as the GM to surround him with other teammates who can play team defense. Favors either needs to become much better offensively, or he probably won't be a starter or on our team when we make our championship run.

Jabari would be perfect at SF if the combine shows us he can have the footspeed to defend the position. At PF, he just doesn't fit the mold of winning basketball. If his best case is Carmello, that's not winning basketball.

Anybody who has top 3 draft board missing either Wiggins, Embiid or Parker is moron and should be banned from posting. Place them whatever way you want but those three are consensus top 3. I would put Gordon, Randle and Smart as next 3 and Exum should not be ranked higher than 7 in any draft boards. Heck, I am willing to bet Stauskas will have better NBA career than Exum.

For all those that got all butt hurt about how I treated batdunce like the rodent he is needs to apologize. You should trust my all knowing judgment. Not only did he have Exum over Parker, but he has Exum over Embiid. This is all.

Has anyone realized that as much crap Carmello gets, this will be his first year missing the playoffs?

You give him the right cast and coach and he could easily be MVP.

You give me a Carmello that would try to pass and play defense (Parker)...wow, that would be a very special player.

So an inch of difference in height is really enough to make you choose one guy over the other?

LOL

When has Parker proven he tries to pass or play defense?

Did you not see Parker's games? Coach K had to play offense-defense w/ Parker in close late games because he couldn't even guard unathletic, slow, college centers who were smaller than him.

Also, Carmello was a better passer than Jabari was in college. Per 40 Melo put up 2.2 AST on 2.2 TOV, while Parker put up 1.5 AST on 3.0 TOV. To put that in perspective, Kanter, who is considered a bad passer averages 1.3 AST on 2.3 TOV.

Parker is a liability. Slow, non passing, non defending, tweener who struggles with weight.

Last I checked Big Owl never averaged 20 points for Utah.
