Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

If we could get Jefferson it would salvage an otherwise horrible offseason. We know we are very limited in regards to bigs and we know we need a low post scorer Jefferson fits into both areas. We would be trading a weak defender for a less weak, bigger defender.

If that is the case, than I would say no to taking on Jefferson. I don't think he's worth 3/42 AND a draft pick.

What's the problem with letting go of a draft pick? Tell me, what exactly have we done with our first-round picks the last few years (Williams excluded)? Hmm? So how much value does that pick really have to us? What, will it blow a chance to get another Kris Humphries? (Who was picked one pick ahead of Jefferson, btw.)

And it will be protected. Protect it through 18 or so and give them the worse of the Utah or Memphis selection (provided Memphis makes the playoffs next season). Drafting in the late teens or worse usually nets you no better than a backup anyway. I'd much rather have Jefferson.

Look, I know he's a risk. But I also know how hard it is to stay upbeat when your team really sucks. Sure, he's a professional. But, it's just human nature to not give 100% when you're down by 20-30 pts. or you've lost 5-10 games in a row and are buried in the cellar. I think Jefferson would get an instant recharge coming to a winning environment, where he'll see Deron and Millsap working like dogs. And he'll see that working hard actually pays dividends.

What ever Jazz do they will not go very far if any into LT territory.

Wow, we would be getting a 20 and 10 center, who is just 25 years old, and people don't even want to part with a draft pick for him? Come on guys. Minny gave up KG for this guy, and he averaged 20 and 10 for them. The least we can do is give up an unprotected 1st rounder. With Al here, it will not be a lottery pick anyway. Right now is not the time to be greedy. Dallas is also on this, and KOC needs to make a good offer. With the first round pick as a part of it.

More Stein:

Trade exception created by Boozer sign-and-trade can let UTA absorb Jefferson contract w/out sending out salary and seal deal w/draft picks

I don't want to get my hopes up here, but it does look promising.
