Team Ellis269:
PG - Giannis Antetokounmpo / Walt Frazier
SG - Michael Jordan / George Gervin
SF - Dominique Wilkins / Bernard King
PF - Shawn Kemp / Kevin Love
C - Patrick Ewing / Artis Gilmore
Team ONE LOVE:
PG - Jason Kidd / Tim Hardaway
SG - James Harden / DeMar DeRozan
SF - Peja Stojakovic / Glenn Robinson
PF - Chris Webber / LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Karl-Anthony Towns
Ellis269’s Case:
Starters - PG: Giannis Antetokounmpo, SG: Michael Jordan, SF: Dominique Wilkins, PF: Shawn Kemp and C: Patrick Ewing
Bench - PG: Walt Frazier, SG: George “Iceman” Gervin (6th man), SF: Bernard King, PF: Kevin Love and C: Artis Gilmore
For the second round, I’m going to move Giannis to the point guard (forward) spot and slide Jordan back to his natural shooting guard position. I do this for two reasons.
#1. It’s rather poetic to match Giannis against Jason Kidd for this round. Let the student school the teacher. Just imagine an Antetokounmpo/Jordan pick and roll. . . nasty!
#2. In my half court sets, Jordan is still going to want to match up against Harden as much as he can. Consider how the Jazz/Warriors would scheme to get Mitchell and Curry in iso situations against the Beard. . . now imagine Michael Jordan in the playoffs doing that. It would be a massacre.
One Love has a solid team, but he can’t match my athleticism or scoring ability. I have 4 players who have won the league scoring title a total of 16 times!
Jordan won it 10 times. Iceman won it 4 times (and is my 6th man). And both Dominique Wilkins and Bernard King won it one time.
One Love has two guys who led the league in scoring a total of three times - Kareem twice and Harden once.
(Also, expect Dominique Wilkins to be motivated to crush One Love for doubting him and trading him to me for a pick that was nearly two rounds later than he was originally selected - that was almost as bad as the Jazz trading him to the Hawks for cash.)
ONE LOVE’s Case:
Offensive Philosophy
This team will play inside out basketball lead by the wizardry of Jason Kidd running the offense (16.9 ppg, 10.8 assists).
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's ALL TIME Leading Scorer with 38,387 points (34 ppg, 16.6 reb) and Chris Webber (27.1, 11.1reb) will feature prominently in the paint. Kareem with the skyhook can score from anywhere and at anytime. Webber can step out and shoot the jumpshot, but he is also a very good passer and will likely give Kareem, Stojakovic, Harden and Kidd easy looks as well.
On the wing, the reigning MVP James Harden (30.4 ppg, 8.8 assists), the modern day Michael Jordan is a prolific scorer and will kick out a tonne of passes to Stojakovic (24.2 ppg, 43% from 3's) as well as inlet passes to Kareem and Webber.
Defensive Philosophy
Defense starts at the PG position with Jason Kidd one of the best defensive point guard that's ever played the game. He is a 4-Time NBA All Defensive First Team. Kidd averaged 2 or more steals in 12 seasons as a player.
In the middle, we have Kareem who is the achor and is a 5-Time NBA Al Defensive First Team. He averaged 4 blocks in 2 seasons and averaged more than 3 blocks for a further 5 seasons.
Bench
Scorers galore in the bench with ALL PLAYERS averaging more than 20 points per game (i.e., everyone knows how to score once given the ball. Tim Hardaway will make sure the ball find whoever is open to score. Tim Hardaway (23.4 ppg, 10 assists), DeMar DeRozan (27.3 ppg), Glenn Robinson (23.4 ppg), LaMarcus Aldridge (23.4 ppg), Karl-Anthony Towns (25.1 ppg).

Post: Kareem/Webber >>> Ewing/Kemp
Wing: Harden/Stojakovic < Wilkins/Jordan
PG: Kidd = Giannis
Bench: Hardaway/DeRozen/Robinson/Aldridge/KAT >> Frazier/Gervin/King/Love/Gilmore
- Kareem & Webber are going to dominate Ewing/Kemp offensively
- Kareem in particular will get his shots off and score at will
- Kidd's quickness will run rings around Giannis at the Point
- Ellis269's lack of 3pt shooting to create spacing
- Wilkins and Giannis will be funnelled to the middle where Kareem is solid defensively
- In summary, the dominant post play and superior 3pt shooting would translate to a 4-3 series win.
