Harris-Walz. Despite previously stated qualms about them and the democratic party as a whole, the correct choice is obvious. We can't allow a guy like Donald Trump to win, not because of his vulgarity, which I couldn't give two ***** about, but the real likelihood of increased damage, suffering, and setbacks that would result from his policy prescriptions. I don't want to see mass deportation, further deterioration of social programs, regressive tax policy, or a trade war with our biggest trade partner, not to mention the emboldened xenophobia, and prejudice that occur (which is already happening just as a result of his campaign)

I also would prefer not to give anybody who supports these ideas a win. It's already insufferable that it's going to be as close as it is. We need a large-scale repudiation of the idiocy, but that ship has sailed. Let's mitigate the damage as best as we can.

States gradually switch from a majority of one party to another all the time.

California is never switching from being a super-majority one party state. The California voting system was permanently rigged September 29, 2016.

A very tiny number of States gradually switch from a majority of one party to another once in a while. Making the vote closer or not helps move things or not move things in the direction that you are hoping for.

Would just make way more sense to make all votes count in every election in every year though.

I don't necessarily disagree with your second sentence, but I don't agree with your fixes.

The changes don't necessarily happen quickly, but over time they do happen. Here is a link to a map of the states that have had >20% change in party affiliation from 1992-2013. There are 22 states on here, or almost half the country, and if you include all of the swing states that keep going back and forth then it's more likely your vote can make a difference over time than you think.

As for MY state, was Utah one of those 22?
I looked at the link provided but couldn't tell for certain. I think on the map there Utah being a "grey" state means it's not one of the 22.

Of course not, lol, but there was a 10% jump in democratic votes from 2016 to 2020, so if there was another 10% jump from 2020 to 2024 then you would be there.

The last vote for a democratic presidential candidate in Utah was 1964, so sometimes it just takes a very long time.

I moved from Utah to Oregon in 2011, I think it was. Oregon allows write-in votes, they don't need to be registered beforehand. In both 2016 and 2020, I checked all the polling before voting, saw that the Democrat (Clinton and Biden, respectively) would win this state, and wrote in Bernie Sanders. This year, as things seemed closer, especially now that I have moved to a more rural town in Oregon, and as I get lazier, I voted for Kamala.

Didnt really consider soccer, but the average NBA fan is younger than the average MLB or NFL fan. Ill look for a source for it later, but it was something I saw sometime last year.

I think this holds in the US but Soccer Fans are often pretty fascist across the pond IIRC. Some ultras are famously leftist too but it's definitely not the same over there.
