What's new

Another somewhat convoluted proposal

And yet the owners make many multiples of that.

I'm ok with you being pissed at what the players make, but your anger should start with the owners.

Looks like you, my friend, have just become a democrat.
I'm not sure he was saying he is mad that players make what they make but rather that he won't feel sorry for them if they can't choose where they play.

I know I wouldn't feel sorry for them.

That is dumb. In most cases tanking is fan supported and encouraged. If the Jazz lose Hayward, I would encourage the season to be tanked to get a top 3 pick. As long as the system is designed to benefit tankers, teams should tank.

I don't care who supports it or doesn't. In a competition teams have an obligation to compete. If I pay to watch a competition I expect a competition.

Hey guys, I know you hate where you work and who you work for, but you're making a lot of money, so we don't care. You're just for our entertainment.

It would take about 5 seconds before the modern day slavery opinions to start on that one. What a terrible idea.

What other profession are you not allowed to pick where you work?

Why do we let professional athletes not choose where they want to play?

The NFL is close to right. Hard cap, non guaranteed contracts, no salary slots/max deals and lots of free agency.

How are your questions relevant?

I said I wouldn't feel sorry for rich basketball players not getting to choose which nba city they live in. That's true, I wouldn't.

I didn't say they shouldn't get to choose I just said I wouldn't feel sorry for them.

I would totally be ok if I were forced to live in any nba city that anyone chooses for me if I get to make millions playing basketball. I wouldn't be upset even a little bit.

Minnesota is probably the place I would least like to live of any nba city.
But if someone called me up right now and said I have to move there and get paid millions of dollars to play basketball then I would be super happy about it.

Sure you would because it's something you'll never be able to do. Once you reach that level, you'd think differently.

Name me another job where you can be the best (top 1% in your field) and be forced to go work somewhere you don't want to.

It's ridiculous.

Why should I have to name another job? I never said it's common or that it has ever even happened before.

Again, I said I wouldn't feel sorry for them. I wouldn't. It would be ridiculous to feel sorry for someone getting paid milllions to play basketball.

Idk. I'd feel sorry for anybody who has a basic human right forced away from them. Money ain't all that.

What right would be taken from them?

Are they forced to play in the nba? Are they even forced to play basketball?

If their employer made a rule that they didn't like then they could change their line of work or change employers like the rest of us.

I'm guessing they would continue to play basketball in the nba though due to the monies. Then you would be sad for them. I wouldn't

You lack empathy... I lose sleep at night thinking about the suffering and human rights of millionaire NBA players. Syrian refugees have it easy compared to someone who gets traded to Sacramento.
